No but I will be ordering my bridesmaids dresses from Milly and will be getting my dress from either Milly, Landy or Island Elegance. No way I'm paying 4 figures for a wedding dress!!!! I've seen pictures of enough of these dresses to convince myself! I've seen pictures of Vendulina's bridesmaids dresses from Landy and they look excellent quality and very well made.
Have you tried any dresses on? Maybe you could try one on that is similar to this one to get a rough idea.

Has anyone ordered this one? Do you think it will work in ivory?

I love this dress, and is exactly the syle I'm looking for. If you get it will you post some pics?
Also guys, those that have ordered lace up style ones.. have you needed to war a bra/corset underneath?
I have seen this amazing ellis dress and when I tried it on with the lace up back and the internal boning, underwire etc , I didn't need a bra - even though I'm a 32 FF! - as it just shaped me all already....0 -
I am currently making a gown which is laced through the back. With all the internal boning/foundation, you shouldn't need to wear a bra or any form of corsetry. (with any type of laced style)0

Thanks Linda
Girls - am I right in thinking that those who have bought dresses from landy with lacing/boning put in have said they are still needing to wear a bra/corset?
That's my understanding of the comments in here...?0 -
Kelda, there are several types of boning. I am using quite a sturdy one which sews directly into the foundation garment. My daughter is quite busty and is kindly modeling for me (she's 12 bless) As I pulled in the lacing, she said it felt significantly tighter and didn't feel as if it was going to go anywhere!
This is great for me and the good thing is the skirt isn't heavy. Sometimes, when there are built in petti's along with the weight of the fabric, good foundation is very important as the weight can "pull down" the bodice. If only a lightweight boning is used, there may as well be none in there at all in which case I would suggest some good foundation underwear.0 -
Its sounds like Landy's boning is not all that good, so you migh have to get a a corset. I suppose they got their ways to cut the cost...0

Look, I know many here are more than happy with their gowns and let's face it, that's all that matters. The only way I can describe the differences in qualities is this. My daughter (4) has a dressing up dress which has a hoop in the bottom. It's distorted and twisted. The quality is not good because it's for dressing up. I think the bottom line is you do get what you pay for. I'm not saying these dresses are bad. On the contrary. But what you have to put into context is the time it takes to cut out the fabric pieces, added the foundation (which can be as many as 3 layers) after constructing the outer gown, then adding the lining, it all adds up to a little more than £150. Of course these companies have many outworkers to construct the gowns and by banging out one after the other they can afford to keep the costs down. How I look at it is this. You are going to buy the most important gown in your life. Is having the attitude, "I'll only wear it for a few hours so don't care if it falls apart" the right attitude to have?
You also have to consider there are people out there who will rip you off. It's all a case of finding someone who will do the best job for a competative price. Like my hubby says. It would be like buying a Farrari only to find a skoda engine inside. (No offence to skoda!)
Like every good company, you'll always get some bad reports. There are people out there who complain about many things, and those who are happy to accept.0 -
i think with landy dresses most big busted girls still wear bras or corsets etc for extra support. apparently their dresses are boned but perhaps not as much as the original. you could ask landy for additional boning at an extra cost? to be honest i've seen finished landy dresses and they are stunning and i plan on getting one myself. i will quite happily pay for a corset to wear underneath a landy dress whilst saving myself over 1k.
no offence linda- but you have a business making wedding dresses and therefore some of your comments can look like you are touting for business. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -

There are many people on here who are very very happy with their dresses. I really feel like you are touting for business aswell. People are very happy to pay Landy's prices as the quality is good and the prices are fantastic. And TBH I certainly won't be paying a huge amount for a dress that I will only wear from 4.30pm until midnight.Married the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150
