The whole thing about a wedding dress is that you're painting an illusion - a beautiful cameo of the 'perfect' bride. Nobody is going to stop and inspect the crystals to see if they're plastic or Swarovski - the only one who will know is her (and whoever she tells).
I have a Landy dress (HS1633) with a crystal encrusted bodice and it's beautiful - I didn't specify what beading I wanted them to use, as I didn't care as long as the effect of sparkles was there. Which is it - they've used plastic beads (I think, they might be glass, upon reflection) but it looks lovely and everyone will go ooooh and aaaaah when they see it.
Which is what matters.
If she's worried about the workmanship, then she needed be - it's stunningly good.
All I know is that I paid £150 for a dress that could have cost me ten times that in the UK. And I'm telling everybody that!
A bit harsh there Minxy_Bella!
I was asking because she is paying for everything herself so how can she be selfish? She is trying very hard to keep to a budget but as you say, the dress is part of an illusion and the dress she has seen is made up as I stated, I just wanted to know if anyone had used Landy's beading/crystals and what the quality was like and if anyone had an opinion about the quality of the fabric and if Landy actually used silk as well.
This is one of the most important purchases in a wedding budget and probably the most important for the bride and it's important that all questions are answered before decisions are made.
You can't see Landy before you buy (they don't do the photo thing like Milly do) so you have to have confidence before you buy, seeing Vendulina's pics has re-assured us but if you have questions you have to ask.
Thanky you for your description of your dress, I had a look and it is a truly gorgeous dress. If it is of the quality that you describe then that is very reassuring and that is what the initial question was all about.0 -

Well the truth is, if you want REAL silk and Swarowsky then she better go to bridal shop, try on the dresses, buy one there, this way she will know that the dress the buys is PERFECT.
I am also paying for own dress, and h2b and i will be paying for the whole wedding, including expensive airplane tickets for family. So turns out the dress is sadly is LAST on my list(not the least). So I dont mind it being plastic and synthetic materials, cos its a dress i will only wear once, and Landy's dress will be good enough for me. Cos its landy's or none at all.
I think you can even order from Landy's in silk/more expensive materials, but you will have to pay extra.
I am also aware that the dress from Landy wont be 100% like the designer picture, but frankly noone of my guests will know the difference. From what i have seen from girl's pictures here, the dresses are LOVELY!
So best of luck to you and your daughter.0 -
Very true Rainforest!
I know that in everyone's dream world they would be able to order the dress of their dreams and have bm dresses etc to match whatever the cost, however money doesn't grow on trees and my dreamy daughter is coming back into the real world with a heavy bump! Especially since H2b's hours have been cutwhich is why we are looking at Landy/milly and asking questions.
They are prioritising expenses and making difficult decisions and the more information you have the better decision you can make.
She's feeling very scared about making this decision and I'm just trying to help the best I can.0 -
Hi,
I've just had a quote from Landy for the dress of my dreams made in 100% silk with intricate beading for $500 (inc P&P) - so you can pay extra for silk.
It still beats the £1700 price tag on the original dress, and had enabled us to spend money on a fabulous reception for our guests!

I suppose most brides face the same tough choices nowadays... Well I think if you order Landy's in standard size, not custom size, i think they accept returns (with restocking fees or smth) so maybe that would be worth a try?0 -

Hi Hels,
The price of the dress my daughter loves is about the same, it's not that it's intricate it's just completely covered all over the bodice with crystals. The skirt has no embelishments but the way it is draped makes the shape and of course the silk taffetta feels gorgeous!
Her fiance has told her to go ahead and get the dress but with the cut in his hours she knows that they need every penny.
It's a difficult decision!0 -

It's a designer dress and priced at around £1700:eek:
Pic just doesn't do it justice, the bodice is encrusted with crystals and is a heavily boned true corset style bodice. The texture of the crystal top together with the silk skirt just makes it wow!
It's the simplicity that makes it so gorgeous!0
