Money_Grabber13579. Methinks you have the Dying post confused with me.
Apology accepted.
Let's just clear something up! "The let's be nice to all money savers", was that a quote from oldman? If so I didn't realise that!
I know the DYING was written by poppy.
My response was in relation to what I thought was you telling oldman to be nice, however I think his resonse to poppy was fair enough!
Sorry for any confusion!;)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
We see how foolish rumours can start. ING is no Icelandic bank (or for that matter one of the weaker British ones). Holland has a different order of underlying economic substance than Iceland and probable much less reliance on financial services to its economic performance than the UK. There is no evidence that the FSCS will be faster or more efficient in paying up than the Dutch authorities would be. If other countries perceive Britain as hostile to their banks operations here the reverse may come into play which would expose the UK banks to big problems in their overseas operations.0

This thread seems to be heading the same way as ING.0

You can hardly blame people for being worried, especially those of us that were also hit by the Icesave fiasco. I'm just glad I got my money out of ING last week although still waiting for funds to appear from KE from a transaction initiated almost 2 weeks ago
I'm getting a very strange sense of dejas vu this evening!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Quick, run down to Xtravision and get Groundhog day. That should clear it up!
Oh and I've got money in Icesave and I'm not worried. I've got money in KE and ING. Still not worried. As long as it's below the compensation limit, I'll get it back sometime!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Yes, well, that might be all well and good for you but I for one can't afford to have the money I had in KE/ING tied up indefinitely, especially as I also have 1000's tied up with Icesave.
I don't care what anyone says, it's not a risk I was prepared to take“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I can see ~Chameleon~'s point of view. Risk is all about perceived risk and the personal consequences of the worst happening. Personally I see ING as a strong bank (rightly or wrongly) and at least for the time being am happy to see some of my money in the KE account they have taken over. I would be even more happy from the point of view of diversification if my money was in Euros but unfortunately that is not the case.0 -
No particular reason to stick with ING if you are at all concerned about the Dutch compensation scheme or whatever.
I am a little surprised how people are coming to ING's defence. I can recall a few months ago (and long before the banking crisis) people slating ING and boasting that they only had 5p left in their ING account! Now people want to feel warm and cosy about ING!
There's no accounting for people's whims is there?0 -
Strange, I received a letter from ING on Friday ( last ) stating;
" Despite recent turbulent times within the financial world, we are in a position of strength "
Yeah right..:rolleyes:0 -
The ING site is now up and working.0
