Polka Just so you don't think it's just you with the bonkers wedding story.......
My brother got married in a very posh hotel. They booked the entire place, for an entire weekend  I dread to think how much it cost. They obviously got pretty good rates, so all their guests had the option of staying in the hotel (still not cheap) or driving bl**dy miles from a B&B to the hotel for all their wedding events
Friday Night: BBQ
Saturday : wedding and recepetion
Sunday : brewery tour..... yes, I said brewery tour!!!
My bro phoned me, ..... now just bear in mind we are a one income family, with three children, we're in Birmingham, and they're getting married in Yorkshire, so it's long drive for us, new outfits, and a three day trip that we really can't afford..... So he phones me to ask if I've booked my B&B yet? (obviously broke relatives, we're not staying in the posh hotel)
"No", says I, "not yet..... why?" ( thinking to myself, oh how sweet, he's going to offer for us to stay at the hotel )
"Oh" says he, "don't book it yet, wait and see if we've any rooms left when we know who's coming. If there are any rooms still available you can stay at the hotel, but just pay us what you were going to pay for your B&B. That way you'll get to stay somewhere really nice, and we recoup any losses "

I was very restrained and didn't tell him where to shove his hotel!

SS OMG:eek: Im just beginning to think there's something wrong with DF and I anyway (you all know the story of why he is still DF and not yet DH).It feels like a rather HUGE slap in the face and also sadly has reminded me of some very negative incidents that went on when we were kids. Pointless talking to DF about it. He is very open with his opinion that they are not worth my pain and that it must be behind me (easier said than done). Stepmother asked this morning when we are getting married as we are taking our sweet time. I told her the plan and said it was very important to us that Dad attend, so we were planning on waiting till we could pay for the wedding and his plane ticket (at least, my own brother has offered to pay for hers when the time comes). She told me not to worry about dad as he's not really interested in kids and their weddings:mad:
It did of course aid things on the flying front, did the whole house dailies and hoovered entire including stairs. Also did some more work on the hallway cupboard (DF is meant to be going up there tonight to get some stuff I need to give to freecyclers on Saturday, but he's still not home). The bread is baking and the chips are done, just lying in the warming drawer. Just waiting for oil to cool so I can put it away and wash the pot...think I might watch H&A now.0 -

SS should have told him you were booking a £10 travel lodge deal
let him make up a whopper difference, cheeky sod.
polka, I am sure you're Dad is interested, what a wicked woman she sounds, my partners mother would come out with things like that, she's the one who doesn't give a **** about family. I doubt I would be going to a wedding that was going to cost me so much money. I have offered as a gift to couples to give them money towards their wedding, but would feel awkward if it was insisted. £336 per head for catering, I am guessing that must include accomodation etc aswell?
Lou well done, your work has paid off then!
emily pleased to hear your hubby is doing wellhope your cold gives up soon and you start feeling better
Froddy will you stop mentioning half ****ing term! Arms still sore, actually starting to go blue/green colour now.....but managing, it's when I forget and press it against something is worst. Oh and some woman clapping in harvest festival kept whacking it.....grrr....
Beccah I don't think we've got pet behaviourist peeps on this thread anymore but there are a few on the pets board who might be able to shed some light. My dog takes some convincing after thunderstorms to go outside, could he be associating it with thunder maybe? I think it'd be worth a post on there, maybe www.dogpages.org.uk too which has a behaviour one.
((hugs)) for those who are poorly, have headaches and generally feeling under the weather. Weather and darker nights (even darker after the weekend with the clocks change) never helps.
Right well have spent too much time catching up while eating my dinner, but did quite a lot before that
Have emptied 6 bags of stuff from car/brought in from shopping/random bags I found
Another big box of stuff sorted into recycling/rubbish which is always a good sign...it's all decluttering!
Sorted rest of Vax stuff for freecycle person, that's been collected now and hopefully be useful to them
Sorted through a box of paperwork and recycled loads which wasn't needed
Reloaded WM
Emptied DW and started reloading
Folded a big pile of laundry
Arranged with neighbour bins stuff for next week and where to put our caravan as it needs to be outside for 24 hours
Cleaned sticky lunch bags
Encouraged DS1 with homework....he's definately not keen on homework
Found DSs reading books, reading diary still missing, I am wondering if they have left them in school
Went through 2009 diary putting dates in already got stuff on
I am pleased I am sorting out as I found instructions for the awning which must have fell out of the bag, could have been a nightmare getting that all out without instructions.....oh and the plug I bought, wondered where that had gone. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
DF has just sent text saying he's almost off train (Been sending one from every stop:rotfl: ) So I'm pretty sure this will be the last post I make tonight since he'll be leaving tomorrow. Have two visitors coming by tomorrow at 11. One going home later and one staying the week end. Will check in to check the list but not sure how much I'll be contributing.
Hope you all have a good night tonight, and as productive a day as today.0
