Just noticed Lil_me's post and had to answer real quick. They are in South Africa so its Rands, but the R336 is just for a seat and a meal. After that they have to pay for drinks and music etc and are obviously having a cash bar. They are debating whether or not alcohol will be served as the license will cost extra. There was a tourism guide included in the invitation informing guests where the nearest hotels/B&B's are situated. Since most of the family live in Johannesburg and the wedding is in Cape Town-everyone will need accommodation ( Paid for by guests themselves).
You are all right-Im so glad I don't have to be there to deal with it. Maybe I'll feel better in the morning? Do you think it would be wrong of me to ask NOT to be kept up to date with the wedding stuff i.e no more emails?

Polka.. Word from the ones who also have things they'd rather not think about. Things that happened in the past, happened in the past.. do not let them affect who you are now.. if they don't make you, they break you.. Your dad is a grown man and if he is too stupid (in the 'blinded' sense of the word not as a slur on his intelligence) to see what is transparently clear right under his nose I would reason he is asking for the fall out.. You and DF on the other hand can be proud and raise your hands and say you did it yourself.. you worked hard and had the ceremony you deserved.. how many shallow insignificant people do people invite to these lavish weddings??? How many are there for cake and alcohol?? I had 85 people at my wedding. 85 people that I loved (bar 10 or so.. ;)) They were people that were important in my life and my husbands life but I wouldn't have cared if it was me, him, DS1 and a couple of local tramps! It is what it signifies that is important not how big the show is. Do not waste any emotion on it, especially damaging emotion.. let them do this.. and go along for the ride.. and get loads of REALLY crappy pics.. then when they spilt in 3 years.. you can smile knowingly and know the true worth of marriage.

And as for stepmothers.. they are portrayed as evil witches in fairy stories because that is what they are (except all the ones here who are divine beings and positively saintly to their stepbrats!).. that.. or she is on change :p .. a 'huge nose spot' upon her for the wedding day itself and spit in her gravy!

Goodness, I am a cynical hag sometimes.. lol..

    Evening everyone.

A long day at work and Im a bit bruised and battered tonight.

Going to head off to bed soon with a hot water bottle.

Good news is that my lovely DD has sorted someone to do my kitchen for me at a discount.

Looks like Jake has gone on his weekly walkabout.

Michelle Big hugs. Hope you manage to sort out the situation with your nephews. The behaviour they are displaying is quite worrying.

Toots Hope you are ok and not doing too much.

lil_me Oh thats scary. I have a real fear of fire and often check my electrical stuff.

emily Good to hear your DH is home and hope he is doing ok.

Sorry if Ive missed anyone. So big hugs for you all.

Finally caught up with the thread!

I've finished for h*** t*** (sorry lil_me, but we teachers get excited about things like that!)!!!:j:j:j

I stayed late tonight as I had loads of what used to be called paperwork to complete, only now you have to do it on a school pc, and can't bring it home to do in front of the telly with a cup of tea! I am absolutely on my knees, and am off to bed in a minute.

I'll be flying tomorrow, although probably very slowly!

Lots of hugs to all those in need of one, especially those who are dealing with difficult times.

ps boddy - are you all right? Was it a difficult client? Have a nice cup of tea!
