Good evening, well my HHC went on a bit but worth it, plonked my bum down with coffee, hobnob, banana and a yoghurt for a quick energy boost and a break. I think I deserve it as I have

nagged DP into changing the regulator on the BBQ then put it in my car :D it's now out of the sitting room
put some other stuff in my car ready for tomorrow inc awning carpet, water roll, skirt, pop up tent, awning, inner tent so that's all now out of the sitting room
filled 2 large boxes of rubbish then sorted into recycling/rubbish bags/boxes
found DS2s nintendo DS for tomorrow, phew, thought he'd left it in Asda
Packed one of the bags for tomorrow
Emptied understairs 'don't move the sofa because it'll explode' cupboard, sorted through it (inc getting out the vax stuff to be collected) and put it away (it's now got space in there!!!!)
Sorted through my paperwork file for council meetings stuff
Crosschecked calendar and diary....hmm....bit busy and a clash I need to sort
Emptied washing machine & loaded airer
    Cleaned under the sofas

:D quite pleased with myself so far, just need to keep on it and get it finished

pigpen back with an apology I hope!

Oh I forgot to mention the 'that was close' moment I had this morning
    DSC00018.jpg
That's a plug, which was on the extension my fridge freezer goes into. It was off this morning so in a panic gets DP up to sort it while I got DS2 off to school. The fuse had blown and caught fire it seems as the plug was all burnt, that's the better side. Thankfully nothing else caught fire but have been thinking 'could have been a lot worse' all day......Anyway, check those fire alarms everyone, I checked mine this morning especially after that little scare.

Going to do another HHC 5.45pm-6.15pm (freecycle collector due at 6.30pm) see what I can get done, if anyone would like to join me.
One day I might be more organised...........

Yes Denise - Cath Kidston again. I do get bored of looking at the same picture.

If anyone has any money (not me then) House of Fraser have some lovely stuff in their online clearance.

Eek Lil me - that is really scarey.

Lil_me - that was a close shave. It happened to one of our kitchen lights, all the plastic molding melted and dripped on to the floor. Very lucky and definitely worth checking smoke alarms xx
  • flower - just a thought and tell me to butt out if you like(i wont be offended) - your 'extras list' is a jumble of personal/houshold - business- and the club. I would divide them into 3 separate little lists so you can see at a glance whats needed in which department instead of looking down the whole list IYSWIM.

and me being really noseey/cheeky - the club - are you the secretary or is it made up of just committee members?
    toots xx

    Yes, butt out please...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't be silly, of course I don't mind. I did do that at one point, but it made it look even bigger as there was another 3 lines so I just put them all together... Might do it again though as it does help... They are sort of seperated into areas like that (believe it or not!), but I know if I take them off I won't do them - this way it 'embarrases' me, for want of a better description and I am getting through them (I think there were about 27 items before, so it is going down...) I'm aiming to get it down to about 10 and then I will allow myself to add on other bits that are bugging me, but can wait... (like re-painting my kitchen wall...:o )

The Club stuff on there I should finish tonight as we have a meeting and I'm supposed to be taking it with me - It's a social club by the way, I'm on the committee (Vice chairman don't you know!!! :p ) and we are trying to raise money, ect as loads needs doing, but same everywhere I suppose...

I must admit, with the house tidy, it is sooo much easier to do other stuff now as I don't get down about it all like I did before - everything just wore me out, whereas now, it's just fear holding me back... :D .

    Hello everyone

Stayed away for a bit as I've been a bit of a grump today...Really craving (in my head) but tomorrow will be 7 days and my body feels so much better so I just REFUSE!
But looks like you've done very well today...
DF your list was HUGE (But if I may agree with Toots I do);)
Pigpen what a story-glad he's back in now and
Lil_Me what a close call, Im very glad it wasn't worse.

DF is off to Edinburgh tomorrow and Im not looking forward to it-thankfully I have a friend staying with me but I still can't help not liking the fact that he's going to spend the whole week end drunk:rolleyes: And then to top it I got an email from my step brothers fiance giving a change of bank details. Googled the venue that they are getting married at and then called my dad to find out about the email. The MINIMUM they are paying for guests and catering (excluding decor, photo's, clothes, music) is R26000:eek: Now I now its not even £3000, but they are living in my dads house rent free under the pretense they cant afford a place of their own. Then my dad explains that the catering is about £336 a head-so they have asked each person wanting to attend to pay a deposit of R150:eek: My stepmom is angry with my dad because he finds it offensive-but she thinks its a very clever idea because if people rsvp yes but dont show, then they can recover some costs and even if they do show, the guests have the option to forfeit the deposit and leave it as a gift for the couple.
Please tell me Im not wrong to think this is all very insulting?

Oops-I warned you I was a grump today
  • Very scarey lil_me - I am terrified of fire. You have been really busy and loads packed up to take to the caravan - well done.

Dusty - I'm a bit late responding to your question so someone else might have offered their opinion, I've still 10 pages to catch up on, however -
yes I think an epilator does a good job but it does hurt. Having said that I'm childless so have a low pain threshold(!) and the newer ones are probably better. There is no way I'd wax, never tried sugaring so can't compare it to that. Was suggested before I used it - 2 ibrupofen and a large glass of wine and you'll be fine! It does give a bit of a plucked chicken effect immediately afterwards but that soon looks ok; I tend to do it over 2/3 days so not going over same patch of leg too much in any one session. Hairs definitely grow back softer. Final observation, if you have long hair tie it up as last time I forgot and it was quite interesting trying to extract it from all the blades, luckily it is so thick there was no obvious effect on the 'style' and it jammed it pretty quickly!!

Sorry everyone to go so much
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

That reminded me of something my Mum told me - her friend had a house fire - caused by a faulty plug. House was gutted but the living room not too bad as the door was closed. Anyway a 'proper' firm was commissioned, by the insurers to come in and clean and salvage. Her 'old' computer, in the path of the fire, was declared perfectly safe, loads of items have been returned uncleaned, damaged and broken BUT the new flat screen TV in the lounge was declared 'unsafe' - so she gets a new one - but you can guess what we think has happened to the one declared unusable...no wonder insurance premiums are so high - cos it's the rest of US who pay...

flower..... at thr risk of being shot down in flames by the others here .... I feel from reading your list of club jobs that these are things that the secretary should be doing ....at least thats what I did as a secretary...??? I can imagine that you are all mucking in ( well some maybe more than others is the norm) especially if thereis loads that need doing but you should be putting most off your energies into building your business - vice chair (again IMHO)is not a huge job unless the chair isnt there and for events when all the committee take a role. Please dont get sucked in to taking on more and more - dont get me wrong I think its brilliant that you are a part of the committe and want to help the club.

Not sure if that has all come out the way I am thinking it - hope you see what I mean --OK I will but out now!!!

I had to read that twice to see if it really said what what I thought it said. And it did.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D
