I've never driven a Lexus and have heard generally favourable comments about them. I certainly would never consider a Mercedes again and I notice in the Top Gear poll they were top for reliability in 2006 and 28th in 2007, 52nd in 2008. I draw some consolation that I am not the only one who has had this experience. The Top Gear poll is only cars under 4 years old so this would suggest things used to be great and have gone seriously downhill. Oh and guess who was top this year? Toyota (which is Lexus's parent company), so you may have made a really good choice. Well done! Oh and touchee to the torque comment on my VXR. Although I have to argue that only a complete nutcase would try to put even half the power on the VXR into use! LOL! Jeremy Clarkson called the VXR "bonkers" due to its torque. He did also note that it is more powerful than a Ferrari 430. . Matthew.

Nonsense. You are either seriously deluded or wrong. Make you own mind up.

    For example-

    Ferrari F430-
    Engine Size 4308 cc
    Cylinders 8
    0-60 mph 4.0 s
    Power Output 483 bhp
    Valves 32
    Torque 465 Nm 343 lb-ft
    Top Speed 196 mph

    Vauxhall 'Torque Steer' Astra VXR-
    Engine Size 1998 cc
    Cylinders 4
    0-60 mph 6.2 s
    Power Output 236 bhp
    Valves 16
    Torque 320 Nm 236 lb-ft
    Top Speed 152 mph

So.... its far less powerful in terms of both BHP and Torque.
  • I think you mean Jeremy Clarkson is wrong. I bow to his better knowledge of cars than me. Maybe you know even more about cars than Jeremy - impressive if true!!

I don't think JC knows that much...
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

as much as im a fan of top gear and JC he knows f**k all about cars, he is a journalist who is enthusiastic about cars, he drives them and then gives you information about them,he doesnt design or build them,or even have the first clue about half the things he reports on.
top gear is scripted, there are loads of researchers working for the show, not just jeremy, captain slow and the hamster.
