Game Store Refusing to Honour Its Ts&Cs

  • What is the problem here, you purchase a bundle, with some things you do not want and then go for a refund on them. But, alas, if I ran the shop, I would not give you a refund unless you brought the whole lot back in the condition that it was sold in.

If you did not want the bundled stuff, you have a choice, do not buy it in the first place. As for the x-box, it seems to be the scammers paradise this year. You have to do want old freddie did when he was young. Collect all the tips from his paper round and christmas monies. Put this in his massive piggy bank and wait until after boxing day. Not only did I get the toy I always wanted cheaper, but had enough left over for others as well. If you canna wait, you will only get sore

  • legally they dont have to - they offer it as a gesture of goodwill at their discretion

but it does suck tyhat they will only sell it as part of a mega pricey bundle

teach em a lessonand refund the whole lot - but put a bit of paper in the box saying you bought and returned it in case they try and resell it at full price

My local game is a total disgrace. They have this price match guarantee but refuse to honour it for a PCWorld and Currys within 1 mile because they aren't solely games stores.

There was also a listing of 8 xbox 360s listed on ebay a week ago by someone who said he was a manager of a Game store.
  • I don’t see what the problem is. If you buy something as a package, you must return it as a package. You can’t just take off the bits you don’t want and expect a full refund on them whilst keeping the parts of the package you want.

It’s always been Game’s trick to only sell bundle deals at Christmas so they can milk as much cash out of you as possible. If you don’t want to be ripped off like this, don’t buy from them in the first place.
  • Forgot to say, PCWorld had a good way of getting around this last year. Not sure if they still operate the same policy.

They used to break the seals on games purchased as part of a package (i.e. free) with consoles - that way you could not return them by themselfs and get the full RRP. I was a bit annoyed about this at the time as I used to sell them on ebay and it looks better if you can say they are sealed, but I can understand why they were doing it.

If they choose to only sell the X-Box as part of a package, then that package is one item and they aren't breaching their Ts & Cs by refusing to refund elements of the package even if the Ts & Cs would normally allow you to return elements of a package.

    IMHO.
  • With Game you cannot return games that are part of a bundle. Its as simple as that.

Put it this way, if you bought something in a supermarket which was Buy One Get One Half Price, would you expect the retailer to refund you the full price of one of the items if you took it back? No. You wouldn't.

Don't expect Game to change their policies just because one person thought that he could try and fiddle them.

If he still doesn't want the games, he can always trade them in or put them on eBay.

I'm assuming it was a PC game. If so, then the manager's hands are tied on that one. You should have been told this when you bought the game. Also, you should have been asked whether the PC it was to be played on would be able to run it.

That's not true. Game are still selling the consoles on their own at the mo. There are even promotions on Preowned consoles.

Well their own terms and conditions say otherwise.

Game's policy is to charge you full price for each part of the bundle you keep and only give you a refund at the reduced price on the bits you return - same as a supermarket.

The people that are returning the games aren't expecting them to change their policies, just stick to the existing ones.

I myself preordered a premium package from game months ago and it has yet to arrive, yet I have seen premium packs with 10 games selling for 700 or 800 pounds in their shops - why aren't those systems going to people who preordered? I now have a core pack being delivered from them with 4 games and I fully intend to take the games back for a refund.

Am I any worse than them for doing what I'm doing?

Took games back from Xbox 360 bundle I bought today and the GAME store refunded them without question.
