My post was because I couldn't resist the temptation to afterwards say. . .
I only arsked.
I know you didn't mean Bernie as an individual.
* Still on a historical note, wasn't The Army Game filmed on the same site as the Lapland Christmas Miracle????0 -
Gomer:
That .pdf link is priceless.
Rarely have any copywriter's delusions of competence been on so epic a scale.
Thanks for the link: it's just made my New Year!
:rotfl:
* I promise I really won't go on about this, but fer Gawd's sake, are my eyes deceiving me? Or does the adulatory text about wonderful Lapland New Forest truly appear below a cross-head that reads:Rubbish0 -
Santa In DNA Test ??
Somehow I knew all this was going to end up on the Jeremy Kyle Show.
Now if we could get organisers wired up to a lie detector.........:rotfl:0 -
Hi pancho,
Did you manage to get hold of Tesco? What did they say?
Hi Whitewing, have just spoken to Tesco Finance, and they say that as we went to the "attraction" we won't be getting a refund as everything advertised an the website was there, i.e advertised live animals, there were animals, Tunnel of light, there were lights etc. The only people that they are able to help are people that didn't go!!!!  :mad:0 -
That is utter rubbish pancho villa.
Trading Standards state otherwise

Mr Hancock said that the criminal investigation into the park was ongoing

Who appointed Tesco as judge and arbiter ?
I don't see why Tesco should get away with such a stupid response, but it may be possible for you to make a demand on Streamiline - the people providing the merchant facility - direct.
The threat of taking Streamline and this matter to the FOS would be something they should wish to avoid.
Let me investigate and think about this. I've got to go to hospital and I don't know how long I'll be there - don't worry - I'm always at the hospital.
If it's possible to go at Steamline direct, then I'll draw up a letter that can be used. Using the FOS costs you nothing but costs the party you are complaining against thus, it's cheaper for them to settle than argue. If that sounds nasty, well that's the attitude you are facing and that annoys me.
I'm having a Victor Meldrew moment again.0 -

More than 5,000 angry customers have sought advice on refunds arising from Lapland New Forest, it has been revealed.
The controversial Christmas theme park where elves were seen fighting and Santa was spotted on a cigarette break closed without notice last month, leaving tens of thousands of ticket holders in the lurch.
Dorset County Council’s divisional trading standards manager Ivan Hancock told the Daily Echo: “We are aware of more than 5,000 complaints and enquiries but even more people will have been affected.
“The company was set up last summer and the December venture was an unmitigated disaster, attracting a record number of calls for any consumer issue.”
Mr Hancock added: “We hope to get some clarification about the status of Lapland New Forest Ltd by the end of next week.
“If the company goes into liquidation creditors will go onto a list of people owed money. We are in touch with other enforcement agencies and the main focus of our investigation is whether there was a breach of trading standards legislation.
“We are investigating both the company and also individuals involved. The investigation is progressing well and we have made it a priority.
“We want to take legal action and are taking advice from a specialist consumer barrister and the Office of Fair Trading.”

What planet are Tesco living on ?
Links to articles like this clearly show that what they are saying is pure bunkum. I'd use another word but it won't get through the profanity filter.
How they can accept the incorroborated word of an ex-con with a record of fraud, against overwhelming newspaper reports from respected sources. It beggars belief.0 -
Looks like it may be good news for Abbey debit card holders. I had a look at the Bournemouth Echo Refund petition (which you can look at via the article in Gomer's link), and the following comment was put on it today.

I missed this article from the Bournemouth Echo last night, but it's good to see they are committed to getting refunds:

I am particularly impressed with the following comment:
"But it’s no longer about the magic of Christmas being besmirched by an organisation whose marketing prowess far outweighed its ability to create a visitor attraction with any semblance of credibility or imagination.
It’s about making sure that every person who warrants a refund gets one, whether they turned up to be let down or never had the chance to visit after it closed. "
Pancho, you may want to contact them to see if they can get any sense out of Tesco for you.
(I am nothing to do with the Bournemouth Echo or the media in general, BTW)

I rang my bank (natwest) as i had paid £100 for family of 4 to go xmas eve and asked if they could claim back my money by a system called chargeback. This is where the banks claims from the company's bank and not the company itself, but was told that they were unable to do this ! So still waiting in hope.

Latest statement from Dorset County Council's trading standards, Monday 5 January 2009 for Lapland New Forest.

It's worth a read. (I didn't know what bits to copy and paste, so best to read the whole thing).
For info, doesn't appear to be anything new officially for the Lapland West Midlands. This is the only text I can find from them, which dates back to 12h Dec, so they should have details of who paid thro the website by now:
