  • See posts #921 and #922 and that of dancing lynne above.

Ask firmly for a form to require refund of your money under the chargeback scheme.

This is not over OR forgotten, and we will not allow it to rest.

Neither of my enquiries/complaints to the FSA and SFO have been responded to, and if I hear nothing, after a short passage of time, I'll start circulating the press and MP's, questioning why we support such useless and toothless quangos.

I am not the only one pushing this matter for a proper resolution. The whole thing stinks to high heavens.
  • Hi please do not think that is it as I had a refund then today a letter from Barclays saying I will not be getting it now as they will have until March 13th to investigate and if they cannot get my £150 back I will have it taken from the account again! I think it is a disgrace and like you I was happy yesterday only to be worried again today. I think they would be better waiting and giving a definite answer rather than a wait of over 3 months. I hope we all get this money back from this scam.

I think this is a disgrace.

Updates are extremely helpful from everyone. If possible, please could you all put whether it's the NF (New Forest) or WM (West Midlands) 'attraction' in each of your posts, as it gets a but muddling and the advice may need to be different. Personally, I can't even see how 'they' could even refuse/reclaim a refund for WM version.

    Hi,
Just got refund approved with Nationwide (£90) through Visa Debit Chargeback. The letter included the paragraph:

"As the operation was closed down following a lot of media attention and complaints from the public the opposing bank has no real grounds to contest this chargeback so you can consider my investigation successful and closed within 45 days."

This 45 day thing is the time Nationwide allow itself to obtain paperwork from the merchant to prove that the service was provided.

I did have to photocopy the tickets, and it took about a month.

    Hope this helps.

Happy New Year to one and all,

    Old Sutt.

Great news OldSutt and I hope that all others continue to bang away at their banks/card providers.

I haven't finished with the my enquiries, but I have to give them a chance to do something. Once they have shown themselves to be impotent, then I'll go into turbo drive.

I have a very powerful argument - derived from the FSA website and published reports. All I have to do is demand an explanation - and use other avenues of approach if those we have appointed and paid to do their jobs aren't up to the task.

A lot of people are wondering what it is that the FSA do. I have heard it rumoured that they regulate banks - but please don't quote me.
  • Hi.

Just read that some people have started receiving their money back. I paid with a Halifax Visa Debit. Has anyother Halifax customer got their money back yet? I was told I would need to wait about 3 months to get a response from Halifax.
  • Hi,

I am still awaiting news that any victim of the New Forest scam who paid using a Maestro card has yet received a refund. Anyone with Maestro experiences will you please share........
    Thanks.

post 889 (I think) - cazandco reported that she'd got a refund back before she'd received a claim form.

Which Lapland was yours? I think cazandco's was New Forest and I think they were booked for a visit after it had closed. (You will need to check the post, if you don't mind).

Did you get a letter advising of the 3 months? Or were you told by phone? If you got it in a letter, could you post the text, if you don't mind?

Have you written to Halifax? If not, then I would say that is your next step regardless of what they've told you.

Gomer and/or Codger (or anyone else),

From looking at roversforever's previous posts, he paid £70 on a virgin one account maestro card, called them up and been given the brush off....

There is a lot of info on this thread now, so I'm unclear about what roversforever needs to do next. Can anyone help, please?

(And experiences with Maestro refunds would be useful if anyone is lurking, even if you haven't had a resolution yet).
