dancing lynne,
See Gomer's posts 923 and 924 above. Write back to Lloyds. Also, if you don't mind - contact the bournemouth echo (nothing to do with me) and let them know. Do not give up - you are owed that money.

I just noticed this from 18th Dec, which basically means that 'they' should have full details of who paid for Lapland West Midlands by now, so can we be expecting another press release on Monday (today, by the time most of you read this)

Carol Dean, the county council’s cabinet member for safer and stronger communities, said: “ .....We do expect to receive details of how many people paid through the website, although we may not have those details for another 10 days.”

I was just thinking about the people who paid by debit card. Now, take Lloyds for example, as part of their upgraded current accounts package, they offer worldwide travel insurance. Would it be possible to claim on this kind of travel insurance, does anyone know?

Hello,
Just thought i should let you all know that i have just been credited with the £110 that i has spend to visit them.
I bank with Barclays and had paid by Visa debit card, after complaining to Barclays i eventually went through to debit card services where i mentionned the charge back scheme following previous post read on here.
After sending me a single A4 form to fill and providing evidence (copies of the tickets and web print saying the parkk had shut) they said i had to wait 10 days for an answer.
In Saturdays morning post there was the recorded that i had send to Lapland New Forest saying it had been refused.
Called the bank straight away and mentionned that it had been over 10 days and that i had received the letter back form Lapland, the lady explained to me to Barclays were going to send out a letter explaining what was happening etc... but she said the police was now invilved and the possible might take a while as the police investigation was still pending.
Anyway to my surprise i have checked my account this morning and they credited the full £110 back into my account.
So thank you to all of you who have posted explaining about the different scheme etc...
If you have any questions please fell free to contact me via a reply.
Many thanks

Yes, very enlightening to hear your good news gjoffredo and even better to hear that other investigations are ongoing. This confirms what I have heard from other sources, so I think there is hope for all those who mistakenly paid money to Lapland New Forest Ltd by whatever means.
I went through the facebook thread from top to bottom and there was some good information there, including links to where the website photos came from. I note that virtually every possible regulatory body has been alerted to this scandal between us, and the admin of the facebook thread claimed that he was receiving all manner of threats from certain parties, which he dealt with robustly. I have saved the links and information on my pc.
I don't think any of the Lapland New Forest Ltd set up will stand up to any form of scrutiny, from its disreputable and unlawful legal disclaimers in their Terms and Conditions, to its amateur attempts to organise the stunt.
I saw that another party who owned reindeer had been approached to supply his animals, but he declined as it was so close to the opening he didn't feel that it would be appropriate.
With a little luck, nobody is going to have similar dealings with the people responsible for this fiasco again, as everyone involved is going to be poorer for the experience including, we hope, the proprietor.0 -

Chernobyl Children to visit Santa - 23rd December 2008Children's charity Chernobyl Children's Life Line, who specialise in bringing child victims of the Chernobyl disaster to the UK for recuperation, are the latest to suffer because their trip to the 'Lapland of New Forest' had to be cancelled.Michael Edmonds, Secretary of the Chernobyl Children's Life Line Swindon Link: "The whole story started a few months ago when we saw an advert for the Lapland New Forest. We all agreed that it would be a wonderful experience for our children visiting from Belarus this Christmas. We contacted the company involved and booked 41 tickets for £775. Everyone involved was delighted and the group were all looking forward to a day out."
The CCLL is a National Charity that helps children affected by the world's worst nuclear power disaster. They bring seriously ill children to the UK for month long recuperative breaks. Doctors have estimated this can increase their life expectancy by two years as the fresh air and uncontaminated food and water has such a dramatic effect on their depleted immune systems. One of these trips was a much anticipated visit to the 'Lapland' attraction in Dorset, which they have been forced to cancel.
