:rotfl: Ah Edna, if only oi 'ad access to wotever it is you lot are on, down Norfolk way. . .
Shame about the beet mountain though. And I guess a bridge over The Wash-up was never a goer anyway. Still, on the bright side, now there's a Waitrose in Newark. I'm guessing trisontana thinks we won't make use of it but after a damn near 200-mile drive, we most certainly will: best Melton Mowbray pies in't world at Waitrose!
 G'night all!

But Gordon Brown did go to school, Edna.
And as I understand it, the Scottish education system back then was actually pretty darn good.!!/quote]
but even the best system will fail some, further it equips some to cover up the fact that they have little understanding and achieve what they do by good luck, the right pals and the occasional .... no I can't say what I want to .There must be an explanation other than lack of education to account for why this country is being governed in the way that it is whilst being simultaneously over-run by car-boot sale Laplands and cats-with-antlers.
Err, could the answer be that the 'governors' and the operators of the boot-sale Laplands have similar mental abilities, one set being lucky the other hopefully lucky?
Sorry I'm Edna cynical state right now. Look and listen to this for relief:

            It's all horriby complicated alison6692
 Did you receive tickets ?
Did the site fold before your date to go there ?
Did you go and visit the place - (possibly putting yourself at risk of assault)
I would claim - and it might even be advantageous to leave the grounds open, due to the ongoing investigations that are in the public realm.
However, if you can clarify your situation it might help. If it is established that the whole thing was just a complete sham (and what are the chances of that ) you may not even have to mentions the grounds, or, after investigation, you may be able to put something more blunt. ) you may not even have to mentions the grounds, or, after investigation, you may be able to put something more blunt.
Oh okay x Thanks for this. I had no idea. I didn't go to the lapland - I have already sent my letter so will let you know what information they want from me to make my claim. Yikes this is going to be a nightmare....:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0

Alison, yes it may be a pain, but I'm glad that you are going to make the effort. It's the right thing to do. I hope the lurkers are inspired to put their claims in too. (Or ask any questions that may be preventing them from filling in the paperwork or making the call.

Okay - I've had a nice day out in the rain. Someone called on my mobile, but I was driving and couldn't answer. I'll check if it was Trading Standards or anyone interesting.
 Lapland West Midlands
People making claims for this version should find it easier as most (I believe) would have paid by PayPal, and guidance for obtaining reimbursement is detailed here on the Staffs Council website
 http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/news/laplandthink.htm
If any did pay by credit card then claiming a refund on the grounds of misrepresentation will not be difficult
 Trading Standards and Misrepresentation
 http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/wirral/ebap/ecommerce06.htm
A nice easy to read document, and for those who booked to see the West Midlands version of this fiasco, it is no great problem to prove misrepresentation for those making a claim to their card company. The organisers never had permission to run the event, and by common sense, if they were not legally allowed to proceed (their "we'll go ahead anyway" remarks make no difference) they were never in a position to provide what they advertised. Their ridiculously unfair terms are of no significance, and I imagine that they would not have been communicated to customers in the required manner anyway. This is dealt with further down the Trading Standards web page.
The event could never happen and the Council stated that they made this clear to the organisers, but in any event responsibility for gaining the necessary permission lay with them.
These two links evidence the situation immediately prior to the opening of the facility, and on the opening day.

I hope this information will mean that all Lapland West Midland customers get their money back in full.0

The call was from Communications Direct cold calling to get my phone contract. You can Google anything.
Good thing for them I didn't answer. :rotfl:
 Lapland New Forest Ltd.
Tomorrow I'll call Trading Standards to see if they can update us. I'd expect they may have little to say, but it's worth asking, and if I mention that I'll be going elsewhere they may want me to defer action, which I'll do if they can let me know that something concrete is happening.
I have another body to ring, and if I can get them interested, it will put a cat among the pigeons. I'm going through 80 pages of regulations and there are major areas of concern. The more stubborn they are, the more likely I'll go on to make another call.
On Wednesday I'll contact another body if the previous two calls have not convinced that something positive is happening.
Yes codger I agree with all your points.
If people had paid cash or sent off cheques in the post, then this would be a simple matter of customer disputes, but a banking facility was used to make a clumsy 'dash for cash' and a little judicious monitoring would have prevented this happening.
Strangers don't walk into a bank off the street and say they're starting a multi-million pound business venture without some vetting, explanation and monitoring, and I'm not expressing a personal opinion.0

            Hi All,
Am about to ring my credit card company today to try and get the money back. We spent 100 quid on a family of 4 ticket.
Should i say it was a single ticket? Since this whole 'single item' thing seems a bit of a grey area.
Any help you can give would be great thanks.
By the way i have not tried to contact the crooks who set up lapland to get my money back but am just going straight to MINT.
 You think thats ok?0

Yes, a family ticket and straight to Mint would be what I'd do. See what they say at any rate. Presume this was for New Forest?

            Hi SeaSmart,
Don't blame yourself - you weren't silly at all. There was no way you could have known what it would actually be like based on the website!
Did you actually attend Lapland New Forest or were your tickets for a date after it had already closed?
I think getting money back will be easier for those who had tickets for after it closed as the company is clearly in breach of contract as they had ceased trading and hence didn't deliver any service to you.
If you were unlucky enough to have gone there while it was still open I guess you'll have to discuss with the credit card company on what grounds you are claiming the refund ie that the website misrepresented what the event would be like.0
