Scene at Lapland West Midlands one hour ago:

    1) some rain-soaked marquees

    2) a burger van

    3) three brightly coloured Volvo police cars

    4) no snow

How good it was of Staffordshire Constabulary to provide some welcome colour to the event with their shiny motor cars.

Thank you Codger. This simple post made me laugh so much I almost choked on my coffee!:rotfl:

The wonderful picture this created will stay with me now as a permanant example of what 'people power' can actually achieve.

Merry Christmas to one and all and thanks to everyone who helped bring these people to book, and get my money back, hopefully.

Only problem is I'm going to miss this thread....:o it has become my nightly entertainment!
Are you all absolutely sure there is not something else that you can turn your attention to? ;)
I don't want to buck the system....I just want it to WORK!!!

Just thinking out loud now, but does anyone remember an episode of 'My Family' where Kris Marshalls character was trying to cadge money to build a 'drive-through' Santa grotto ?

Just strikes me that we don't even need a field for that.... any motorway service area, lorry park, McDonalds etc would do....

Seems we could make a killing, and we wouldn't even need to do a 'fly by night' 'cos we would be gone next day anyhow.

Tickets now available at £95 per child (includes your choice of gift from Poundland)

Anyway, enough is enough.... Thanks for all the laughs, and once again good luck to all getting your cash back !!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night !! :santa2: :rudolf:

Staffordshire County Council said it would pass its intelligence to officials on the south coast after it emerged that a postal address for customers wanting a refund following the closure is about a mile from the Dorset venue.

A spokesman for the council said: "We cannot prove it but we are not daft either and it's a big coincidence. Our jurisdiction only extends to Staffordshire but trading standards authorities, like police forces, share intelligence."

Oh Gomer - what shall we do without a pompous demigod? sp demigogue?

(what do those words mean anyway?)

And where do find such demigoggs if we are in need later?

Ta for all the help, have a good Xmas

Hoping there is a satisfactory resolution for all those ripped off.

You could use the castle mound as a ski-slope. They didn't have that attraction at those other Laplands.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I am glad these two shams have closed down and now we can work on getting our money back.

Following this thread for a couple of weeks now I feel that some good work has been done by people pulling together and I definately feel it has helped to make a difference, my parting thought would be well done to the companies that have made an effort in this difficult time to offer some consulation for the children but surely there are more companies out there who have a Father Christmas(all be it not the authentic one!) that could do something to offer the disappointed children. They could let them know that santa is alive and the spirit of Christmas is too...just a thought!
Thank you to all of you that have helped..you know who you are! Good luck to all in the fight for our money and next year I will not be visiting a similar thread as from now on I am going to be soooooooooo careful about what is advertised! Goodbye all and thanks again:beer:

As has been said it seems things have been sorted (as best they can for the mo) and I sincerely hope all those who paid for these scams get recompense. I will also keep a sea watch on this and will be happy to answer any PMs.

I think thanks should go to those on this forum who did so much to bring things to the attention of the public and authorities.

In parting may I wish you a good holiday and hope this whole disgraceful affair is soon put into history.

I do however have to leave you on a touching note - breaking news from Lapland Norfolk is that the nativity scene is now in place. Look carefully and you may just see Mary and the baby Jesus. The 3 kings cancelled, and we couldn't find 3 wise men, and the donkey is not well but the snow will be here soon courtesy of Splatter, Spume and Sputem Co, and the organisers assure you it will all be OK on the day.

This little missive was hand delivered by a man in a high visibility jacket bearing the logo Grabem and Punch so has to be gen.

I believe the person mentioning Thetford was alluding to a rather different sort of 'Lapland' but I think this may have been in jest. Not that I'd know about these things of course.
