Good morning all,I think I’ll be the second one to need a kick up the butt, feeling quite de-motivated at the moment. :( And I need some one to tell me that I really should put my scuba-diving gear and motorcycling gear up to ebay as I haven’t done either since 2005, because I can’t afford to and at this rate, can’t afford in the unforeseeable future either. So my POA for next two weeks is• List loads of items on ebay on Thursday• Go and change my Singapore dollars (have had those in my draw since 2004 as didn’t think they’d be worth much, but should be about £13• Start on daily clicks at least on one site (my computer at home is seriously slow and I get a bit frustrated doing surveys and stuff on it)• Send a book I sold on amazon today or at latest tomorrow• When I get my wages on Friday, work out how much I can put towards paying credit cards (pay rise included in these wages :) )And I think it’s very cruel to talk about holidays… Though I have just been on two short ones. One was a two day trip to South of France, Nice and Aix-en-Provence. A birthday gift from BF, he paid everything and the other one to go back home for my birthday. But I love travelling and going to new places (partly why I’m in debt) and BF likes it a lot too, but he earns almost twice as much and only has mortgage and is comfortably off. So loads of temptation to go on hols with him, but have bee pretty good so far. At the moment trying to work out how I’d be able to budget for holidays as well…Anyway, that’s enough me waffling. Hope everyone’s doing well with their debt busting.

Suppose it depends on the person but I'm a dreamer and I love to dream about where I can go on holidays when I am debt free! It's the only thing that keeps me going sometimes and is the number 1 thing to motivate me towards getting rid of my debts! Have to admit though, the majority of my debt is as a result of going to new places. Will try to resist after Barcelona in Jan and book a really nice one in 2010 if I am debt free!

Hi clearmydebts,I did mean that bit tongue-in-cheek... But I am slightly different, I have to forget that there's a nice life out there waiting for me, otherwise I'd be in debt forever. For example, I don't really go to town or clothes shops unless I really need something, cos otherwise I'd be reminded of what I'm missing. And atm I want to mostly concentrate on clearing my debts. But it's not easy especially now with my BF who likes to travel and has enough disposable income to do it. Difficult to get the balance right between paying debts off and having a life and enjoying it.Trying to find a second job that would suit my lifestyle before getting a better paid job hopefully at summer time. Only way for me to reduce my debts is to earn more money, can't really cut back much anymore. But only just started new job and need to stay in that at least 6 months. My DFD at the moment is sometime during 2014, but really want to get it forward. Need to work on it though.

  • Tirlittan,

I know you did!!! ;) It's fascinating how people are so different when it comes to tackling their debts. I have to dream about the nicer life or I would go insane. I am with you on the subject of steering clear of the shops unless I have to buy something. My sister came to visit last week and I went shopping with her (window shopping) and we totally depressed ourselves because we couldn't afford a thing! I am getting better at self-restraint but it does make me feel down.

It must be hard if your BF has the money to go to places but think of all the lovely places you can go to when you are debt-free and then you can really enjoy them. I too try to have a balance between enjoying myself and getting rid of debts. That is why I am only paying the minimum in Dec & Jan, I want to cut myself a bit of slack after trying hard this year!

My debt free date was 2014 as well, and has just come down to Oct 2013 as a result of doing AQA. I don't want to count on that too much though, as I am afraid I might get chucked out of it any month!

I know where you're coming from CMD, my problem is I don't just dream it, I do it. I am constantly booking flights and going on holidays here and there and end up using all my wages to pay off the ccs the next month. That's not actaully the reason I got into debt (it was student life!) but it's not helping.

Shopping isn't too bad though - if I'm tempted by something in a shop I'll think, that could pay for a cheap flight, and I'll generally put it back. I'm planning to make the most out of being well travelled and review all the places I can on dooyou.

Sorry I don't feel I can post the place I reviewed first as it is the only review and I don't want to get into trouble for starting a 'click cartel' (ooh, it sounds really criminal, doesn't it?:rotfl:). Have a good week of debt-busting everyone. I'm away this week  but am planning at least 3 NDS - i.e. no airport shopping!

Snow white - I'd love to be doing what you are doing, but I really want to get my debts paid and then I'd have all that lovely extra money to use on holidays and other things I'd like and no more debt!!!But I bet I will be using some money next year for holidays again and thus prolonging my DFD. That's life.... :(

  • Snow White,

I have to admit I am a sucker for cheap flights as well and that has defo contributed to my debt. I am going to try and keep holidays to a minimum next year and get debt free as soon as possible.

  • Hi everyone,

Just on for 5 mins doing a Tesco order so thought I'd pop on here before you all forget about me.

Had op done on Saturday and came home yesterday, have 4 wounds on my tummy and am a bit sore when I move, just done lots of resting (been in bed for 3 hours this afternoon).

Well done everyone for all the debts paid, I got a bill yesterday for £31 so off to see what is in my bank account, I always try and pay them as soon as they come in.

Hopefully in a week or so I'll be back to Ebaying with a vengeance and trying to clear lots of stuff before Xmas.

Just glad it's all over now and at least I can eat what I like, they gave me my gall stones in a pot, counted 31 of them, tiny little things funny how they cause so much pain.

    Well, bye for now.

  • TooMuch,

Delighted to hear the op went well. Get plenty of rest and luck after yourself. Will look forward to hearing how you are getting on when you start to Ebay!
