Atlantic price increase

I think Atlantic are a shambles. I'm on a no Standing Charge Tariff and couldn't equate the number of units charged at the higher rate with the number on my bill. When I asked how my bill was calculated and in particular the higher rate units the rep. couldn't answer and said she'd ask her manager. After a while she came back and said that if they charged me the correct amount my bill would increase. I hadn't realised that Atlantic were a charitable organisation as well as being totally clueless.
What with this and their price increase my switch is in progress.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Hi there, i left Atlantic in September to move to fixed rate with scottish power. Does anyone know if they have any right to try and claim any extra from us now our account is closed and fully paid up? I shouldn't think they would have a right to do this (i hope!) but was just wanting to make sure! Any ideas anyone?0

I received this letter as well.
I've had good service from Atlantic and appreciate the 1 month rebate but I was angry at the post dating price rise. I used the same analogy as another post - i.e. Shell phoning me and asking for more cash for petrol bought since August. I've phoned ConsumerDirect (which seems to have replaced OffGem) and they confirmed that it was legal. Interestingly though they said that my phone call would be registered as a complaint on their database which the OFT use. So if enough people complain then they might just do something about it in future.
Anyway - I've switched to nPower getting £40 cashback from TopCashBack and also freezing the last 3 months Atlantic gas & electricity. Wary of comments here re nPower's reputation - but hey I can always swap back. All I've got to do now is make sure nPower inform Atlantic within 15 days.
My letter from Atlantic had the date simply as October 2008 - so if yours is the same then you can always argue that the 10 day rule doesn't run out until 10/11.
Good luck0 -

They do. (At least at this one - energyhelpline):Please note that, if you pay by direct debit on their online tariffs, for every 12 consecutive months you remain a customer you will receive a rebate (paid on the 13th month) of your monthly payment. This rebate is included in your savings figure on the results table
Though this also means that when checking figures in the comparison tables, any saving shown by switching away before getting the year's rebate is not as "good" as it seems as you need to take into account the value of the rebate you would no longer receive.0 -
Does anyone else get their "loyalty bonus" of one months direct debit payment back? Just wondered whether this would overall still make them cheaper as we get around £60 back a year? (as I'm annoyed too!)
Is this every year? I have been with them for around 18 months now and never got a second rebate.0 -
Yes every year.
So you have yet to qualify for a second rebate.0 -

Sounds like you got a telephone job for tomorrow at 9.01am!0

I'm sorry, but do none of you look at your bills? I noticed the price increase on my Aug bill and increased my D/D payments accordingly to cover it. I think we all knew it was coming didn't we. Atlantic still work out the cheapest for me with the annual D/D bonus and I must say that Atlantics customer service is second to none so I think they deserve a break for this administration boo boo!
