you can carve the pumpkin...and then cut it up afterwards...
if you dont like th idea of a candle messing up the flavour
line the pumpkin with foil - which also makes it glow very brightly
and strip it out afterwards ( i would discard the 'face') as you cant line that with foilFight Back - Be Happy0 -
Ive merged this with our pumpkin thread
Any time i've cooked with it, there has been no taste as the pumpkins are generally grown for size rather than taste. Do let us know how you get on

Hi, i am wondering if you would share your pumpkin recipes please?
I am sure (fingers crossed!) that i wont be the only person to ask this at this time of year, with Halloween on its way so thought it may be good to have a few already here (apologies if there is already a thread for this, i did a search but couldnt find one).0 -

Pumpkin curry?
Not a fiery job but gently spiced with coriander and a little cumin. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi,
I've made this quite a few times.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/sausagepumpkinandsag_92737
It makes enough to fill two casserole dishes. It freezes well, we have it with wedges and crusty bread - Its that sort of casserole, not a stew IYSWIM
I leave out the white wine vinegar, sage and banana shallots purly on a cost basis.0 -
Sorry for the delay, the pumpkin took longer to chop than I thought!
Anyhow...
Pumpkin & chorizo soup
25g butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 red chilli, descended and chopped
2-3 fresh sage leaves (although I've never actually used these!)
650g pumpkin flesh
650ml chicken stock
100g chopped chorizo
2 cloves garlic, diced
Melt butter in a saucepan, add onion, chilli and sage, then cook for 10 mins until well softened.
Add the pumpkin and sweat for a couple of minutes ( I assume this means the pumpkin and not ourselves :rotfl:)
Pour in the stock, then cover and simmer for 20-25 mins
Meanwhile, fry the chorizo and garlic in olive oil until chorizo is browned.
Blend the soup, season to taste, then reheat gently, adding the chorizo and garlic, along with the oil from the chorizo pan.
YUM YUM YUM!
Mines bubbling away as I type! ( although now I've made it a few times, I kind of don't measure it anymore, but chuck in what seems like enough!)
*** taken from them covent garden soup company 'soup for every day' book ~ can highly recommend it, it also has pumpkin and pesto, pumpkin and carrot, and a simply pumpkin recipes, all for the end of October!!!!***
