    It is both pretty useless and spam.

    Just happened to come across this from a google search and thought I'd add to it as one of the resources I found to be most useful has not been mentioned...

    I've just recently bought a house and the inevitable question came up - my house, best guess is pre 1896! If anyone happens to find out any resources that might give earlier clues, please let me know!

    So in addition to old-maps.co.uk, if you house is very old like mine - also try for additional clues:
    maps.nls.uk (there are maps dating as far back as 1840s)
