O2 - I no longer trust O2 and have actually cancelled my DD because of it.

Been with them 10 years but they did something unforgiveable today, and the writing is on the wall.
Ordered my PAC code and when I have moved networks I will flush the toilet one last time and give O2 (well it's Telefonica now isn't it so what did we expect?) a bloody good push with the brush.
I wouldn't recommend the current shower to my worst enemy ... if you are on a contract with O2 watch every bill and watch out!

so what's the warning then? might help if you're a bit more clearer on your post0

so. what happened then.0

so you're gonna stop flushing the toilet because of o2. what did they do?0
-
Well it's their toilet, O'Leary. I can't help it if they insist on calling it a business

I called them because the manager of the O2 shop who did my upgrade last year said that the shops have had their hands tied this year regarding existing contracts and can only sell new 18 month contracts now ... he was very nice about it and suggested my best chance was to talk to Customer Care Upgrades team on 202 and keep my fingers crossed that I 'd get someone reasonable.
MISTAKE!!! They didn't even recognise what I was talking about when I asked how much might they charge me for a new Omnia, N96 or LG Renoir ... sorry we don't do those!
Can give you a free 6300 if you want ... nah I was looking for something with a decent sized screen to play movies ... I don't mind paying ... can you suggest something and give me a price?
Oh! We just noticed you have a big discount on your account ...
Yes I have had it a long time.
Well we'll just speak to a manager for you ... can you hold on?
OK.....
some minutes later ...
OK we have reduced the discount for you.
WHAT??
Yes you were receiving more than our maximum discount so we've removed it.
Well kindly put it back please, we havent even discussed what handset you can offer and I can pay for which might be good for movies.
No we can't put the discount back. Its already removed. We aren't allowed to put it back. "To be honest, you are still getting a good deal!" ... that's what the silly silly girl said.
Then after I complained and spoke to her "manager" (actually he was anything but in the way he waded in) he refused to listen to my complaint, idiotically dueled from the outset to see who could overtalk who the most, and when I told him I was actually online to my bank cancelling my direct debit right there and then because I no longer trusted O2 he threatened me with court action to recover funds owed (I don't owe anything - the last DD payment went through my bank just yesterday!)
Totally dishonourable amateur plonkers. O2 can't be trusted to run a PAYG for a pensioner let alone send a correct bill for a contract like mine. Last month I spotted they'd had suddenly removed the monthly data allowance back in August (thats 10 months after I last upgraded in the shop) which caused two incorrect bills and caused them to have to process credits totalling £13 to my account (still havent seen credit notes for those ....)
Hence my Rip Off Warning - I said it already but it is worth repeating that I wouldn't recommend them now to my worst enemy :mad:0 -
Not O2 Crooked dealing is it0

Pardon Omen? Have you some useful hair to split or are you just being contrary and greedy-corporate-like?0
-
You do realise removing the DD is a bad idea0

Don't you think you're posting a tad aggressively to someone who is offering some advice? I would think PinkShoes came to the conclusion that you were not going to make any more payments to O2 - I think you mean you'll pay the final bill, but by cheque, once you're satisfied it's correct.
As long as you have proof of their incompentance (which I imagine you have), then when the final bill comes in, you can challenge the amount & pay what you feel is the correct amount, minus credits owed. Also, as long as you've completed YOUR part of the agreement by cancelling in writing within the specified time, then you're covered.
Please try & be a little more courteous in your replies - people are only trying to help!!!

DCFC79 and O2 are correct, and you can't just cancel your DD. You have to cancel your O2 contract in writing giving them a month notice, and then settle the bill. Only then can you cancel the contract! They probably will take you to court, and you could end up with a CCJ which will screw your credit rating up!
Fair? Nope, but it's just the way it works.

I see this thread has been somewhat inexpertly edited leaving the wrong conclusion. Let's get a few things straight, shall we?
pinkshoes is wrong which makes DCFC and O2's mouthy manager (sic) wrong also. Advice is one thing Rab, but patently wrong scaremongering advice is worse than useless to MSE'ers generally and you are now part of that by proxy (they've left you thanks for your apparent support of their incorrect interventions!)
The facts are these: I have made no written notice of cancellation to O2 and nor do I need to. Instead I have received a standard inexpertly written acknowledgement of my intent to cancel including an acknowledgement that nothing further is required of me save for settling the final bill (which if contentious will simply cause red faces - not mine you understand!).
I have simply done three things in relation to parting company with O2 so far:
1. Called them up, told them what I thought of them and requested (and obtained my PAC code)
2. Cancelled the Direct Debit with my bank so the next and last time O2 try to debit money without checking with me first they will have to do exactly that ... Check With Me First (readers will recall that is because I don't trust them).
3. Written about my experiences here on MSE.
Neither 1. 2. or 3. will result in me getting a CCJ, principally because I am acting entirely reasonably. Any further tomfoolery from Telefonica O2 (UK) Limited will, on the other hand, simply see more egg land on their faces via this thread (MSE willing).0
