Hmmm - not sure it's a good idea to encourage drivers to be diving for record buttons when they should be concentrating on the road!Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

better going to www.caraudiodirect.com, if you want to pick up a good stereo
Or stick with LIDL if you want cheap and cheerful...
I already have a Clarion MP3 headunit on my car and it's fine.... the UDB input on this one is interesting though... I assume if you connected a bus powered external Hard disk (via a USB extender cable) you could have access to thousands of tracks.....no more CD clutter!!
Anyone thinking of doing this though just be wary... the unit may only read FAT16 formatted drives and the FAT16 filing system does have a number of file/storage restrictions... http://www.buildorbuy.org/fatchart.html
Still alot of files but you need to be a bit mindful of how you store them in subfolders and also long file names (more than 8 characters in the filename) will restrict how many files you can store in a single folder further. Also the maximum volume size under FAT is 4GB...many external hard disks are larger than this.... but perhaps the LDIL headunit can read multiple volumes.
Anyone fancy doing some testing then0 -

i was just expressing my own opinion on the lidl stereo
and as far advertising websites, i have nothing whatsoever to do with caraudiodirect, i have ordered numerous things from them before and they have always gave me good service0 -
Thanks for confirming that, wobblebottom. dfarry: pity the radio doesn't support the ext2 filing system, as used by Linux (and for which free Windows drivers are available) - no need to pay royalties to Microsoft to use that one.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

sxi-kenny: your views would carry a lot more weight if you actually explained them, rather than just saying "this product is crap".Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Yes it does have RDS. Still playing with mine but noticed it even displays the correct time automatically. I was lucky as they only had about 8 units in my local store and I bagged the last one.0

I'm not too familair with ext2 but yes... any royalty free and more flexible filing system would be good for things like this!0 -
