Icesave - 11 Days Later & We Are No Wiser

I suppose in the grand scheme of what is going on in the financial world, this is a fairly small issue for those in charge.
We have been told we'll get our money back, for which I am very grateful.
I dont think we can expect daily updates when there is nothing new to say.0 -
Icesave - 11 Days Later & We Are No Wiser
You're not wrong there...............you still think coming on here and starting a new thread to moan about it, adding to the countless one's already will make any difference whatsoever !!!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
It clearly states under the FSA - FSCS conditions that it can take up to 6 months for funds up to £35k and now up to £50k to be compensated. The Government has now kindly covered ALL money totals held in these Icelandic accounts, Thank You.
My wife and I have our life savings with Kaupthing and Icesave, so I am very worried but like the majority of savers will have to wait patiently.
PS Just looked in my linked account at 09.30am 16th and still no transfer from Kaupthing.0 -
The daily mail yesterday said it would take 3 to 6 months for the money to be repaid - possibly longer. Just got to be patient I suppose, and be thankful that eventually we will get our cash back.
Even more useful is the link itself:-

Yes we've been heading all week that the FSCS would make an announcement today - I've have just checked their website and guess what - nothing.0

Why does anyone believe that the Daily Mail knows? I doubt that even the FSCS knows how long it will take until things start moving, it must depend on so many things.
IMHO it will not be as long as the Mail says, I imagine that the government will not want people getting annoyed about a long wait and will put pressure on the FSCS if they were to start 'dragging their feet', I believe that the FSCS are doing their very best to get it sorted as soon as they possibly can.0 -

Icelandic Prime Minister's Office website http://eng.forsaetisraduneyti.is/news-and-articles/nr/3075 appears to confirm that negotiations were still under way yesterday on how the Icelandic part of the Icesave compensation for UK savers will be handled. That obviously doesn't prevent UK FSCS sending forms out and starting the compensation process, and it does indicate that resolving the Icesave UK savers issues is not bound up within a bigger overall dispute between Iceland and UK, which sound like good news.
Web site says:
"The British Government’s unprecedented actions against Kaupthing in the United Kingdom have led us to review our legal position vis-à-vis the British authorities. To that end, the Government of Iceland has appointed a British law firm, which is now working to prepare a case, and the Icelandic Government has also taken various measures to ensure that the British public is made aware of our point of view.
Despite the dispute that has arisen in relations between Iceland and the United Kingdom, both countries have emphasized resolving the issues connected to Landsbanki’s IceSave accounts. The same applies to IceSave accounts in the Netherlands.
Delegations from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom held meetings with Icelandic officials last weekend. Preliminary results have been achieved in talks between the Icelandic and Dutch delegations concerning a settlement between the two countries, subject to approval by the Althing.
No agreement has yet been concluded with the United Kingdom, but I am hopeful that an outcome will be achieved soon."0 -

I still wouldn't get too many hopes up about getting anything useful at the end of this week, personally.... Dealt with many government functions lately?0
