Generally places give disabled concessions because people with disabilities are unable to access the full spectrum of activities. For example DS1 has fits and cannot use rides with flashing lights at legoland, or look at exhibits that are backlit at the sealife centre. I found that he cannot use at least 1/3 of activities at any place we have been except some zoos.
Regarding the fast track queueing system, DS2 is in a wheelchair and while he can be lifted in and out of rides they are usually accessed by a narrow queuing system with steps. The only way to get to them is via the exit ramp. This is particularly true at legoland where virtually all the rides have lots of steps at the entrance. We all get the carers bands so we can go this way together. It is nice for us to be able to go on the rides as a family - that is why we go on family days out.
I would happily give up DS2s disability and queue like normal people - and so would he.

We went to Shakespeare's birthplace yesterday, and a carer can go in free with a disabled visitor, plus the disabled visitor currently pays £11 instead of £12.

These tickets last for 12 months, and you can visit three houses as many times as you want on those tickets:

    Shakespears Birthplace
    Nashs House & New Place
    Halls Croft

Also, until October 09, you can visit for free.

This is a one day only ticket, but you can then purchase an annual ticket for half price.

Also, until the end of November, they are having snippets of Shakespeare's plays performed in the gardens, which is well worth watching :)

Edited to add: not sure why they are blanking out the internet addy, but it's www dot free-stuff dot co dot uk

Can anyone give me or tell me where I can find a list of disabled and carers rates for attractions in Blackpool, more importantly, where the carer goes free or both have reduced rates please? Many thanks in advance.

this made me laugh from thorpe park rules 1 no dogs on rides
    Guide Dogs

Guide dogs are welcome in the Park, however for safety reasons, dogs will not be able to accompany guests onto the rides. Guide dogs may accompany their owner as far as the loading point, but please ensure that guide dogs are left with another member of the group and not left unattended.
