This guide lists lots of accessible places in and around Warwick (haven't spotted any financial concessions, but still, it is useful to know where the disabled bays and wheelchair hire places are, if you are aout and about in the area)

I came across this guide - it is £6.99 inc p&p, but £1.99 for blue badge holders.

It gives information about accessible places to visit, including if they have electric mobility scooters for hire, where the disabled loos are etc. It looks like an interesting guide to places you might otherwise not know about. I don't know if it has info about concessionary rates - does anyone have this guide who can tell us?

  • Was recently in Paris with my two daughters. We went along to the louvre to see the Mona Lisa and it free for disabled people plus a carer. Also under 18s are also free. A really cheap day out it cost me the price of a guide book. Also free was the Palace of Versailles and some other museums. The louvre excellent for disabled people. Disabled lift, plenty of seats and also found French people are much more helpful than the average Brit.
  • Rome was fantastic, flash your disabled badge and you can queue jump many places ie Vatican. Florence was pretty bad for allowing concessions but Venice very good. Hope this helps

I think asheppard may have been referring to the blue badge - for disabled parking - which is often accepted as proof of disability for other purposes.

Just ordered mine. Will really help when planning places to visit. Many thanks.
  • Probably means your Blue Badge Robbie as they are now recognised throughout the EU. The new handbook shows you all the participating countries and any relevant information such as restrictions etc.;)

Hi aimtots, would you come back and let us know what you think of the booklet, when you've had chance to read it, please? That would be really helpful.

    Many thanks

I check with places first it is surprising what discounts you can get. Some recent ones I have found out about or used include The London Eye, Crealy Adventure Park in Cornwall, most cinemas, leisure centres for swimming etc, Oakwood theme park, all of these have been pay for disabled either full adult price or reduced price and 1 carer goes free. As I am not physically disabled I have to take my DLA award letter showing I receive the higher rate care component to qualify but it is worth carrying it with you for the benefits.
With the Severn Crossing I do not have blue badge as I do not qualify but have been in a car with my mother-in-law who does and passed her badge to the booth operator only for the wind to catch it and it blow away down the motorway and someone about 5 cars back having to get out and get it for us. So hold on firmly.
