Agreed. In my town, the BP garage is opposite Morrisons (literally). Last night I went to do my food shop. Morrisons petrol was 99.9p and BP was 105.9p. There were still two cars in BP - craziness.

Morrisons had queues for petrol so I didn't bother filling up. Oil prices are still coming down - this isn't a one day offer so need to go mad kids.

EDIT: post above is interesting. My car doesn't have a means of measuring fuel consumption (I could measure number of miles a tank gets me but my driving varies a lot between in town and long distance over time so it wouldn't be a fair comparison). Anyone else found BP etc gets them further?

Firstly, there is no coming back from a 5p per litre difference, Morrison's is the one to buy here until BP drop their price to the usual 1p-2p premium over supermarkets in this case.
I do have an MPG display on my cars on board computer, but the most accurate way to get a measurement is measuring fuel used over miles covered. Easiest way to do it is brim tank, reset trip computer mileage, next time you brim tank make a note of how many litres you put in and the miles on the trip computer and you can calculate mpg from that.
Keep in mind colder weather increases fuel consumption, it's getting colder out there.

I find a 2 to 3 mpg drop with Tesco's or Sainsbury's, but as said not every time.

My car is better for BP thanks very much and it doesn't have the rotten additive stuff in like supermarket stuff. It doesn't run so well - or previous car didn't and I just won't touch them now.

We've had problems at work with customers vehicles (diesel ones) the fuel pumps have got blocked and caused all sorts of hassle. They get blocked with what one can only describe as black slime... which dries and hardens - yuk! Its all down to the additives or the mixing of them. Changing to one brand and then another. Its doing some damage, new fuel pumps are not cheap....

My car is petrol, but still prefer BP anyway, you notice the difference, performance is better and therefore, in the end, more economical.

Mine too - which is why I am able to quote it so eloquently....

You're trying to antagonise me because you use inferior fuel in your car and don't want to admit it, and because I am looking at the moment, posher than you and you just can't stand it.

i use tesco for my fuel, petrol for my car and diesel for my van,theres no difference. except at tesco you get clubcard points.

I hear the government are now monitoring MSE since the financial situation .... Well Mr Brown....Keep it coming down - we want to match the rest of the world who are complaining at paying half our prices!

What's the story with using Vegie oil in diesel cars - i hear it works well with older cars but what about newer cars which have engine management in them are there any rules to work out if it will be ok or end up costing more repairing the car if it screws it up ?

theres plenty of threads on here about vegetable oil,search for them.
