Mobitix with Virgin trains

Hi guys
I see lots of problems downloading tickets, but I've got 3 tickets on 3 phones, only one is displayed too small to read the text. Tried to alter display but not possible. Does the ticket collector actually read the ticket from your mobile screen, or scan the black and white bar-code type square above the printed text?
Cheers. Geoff.0 -
The ticket collector may have a Bar Code reader but i've not seen it as yet. The collectors at Euston used it with me as my MOBITIX was kinda pixelated from a bad download. It was the first time they had used it actually. the BLACK & WHITE Square is the Bar Code and it read correct and VALID.
I suggest you make backups from Phone to Memory Card just in case. I was in London Friday.... £2.00 Return, Happy Days.....
Got this from Virgin Customer Services recently:- "[FONT="]We are currently offering Mobitix on the Manchester route as part of a trial to gauge demand for this method of receiving tickets, and to make sure that the process is customer-friendly, and that it works effectively."
I've noticed a drop in passengers since the MOBITIX only system. Plenty of seats in Coach "D" The lower numbers go first ie: D1, D2, D3 etc. So you can move to the upper numbers in coach "D" to maybe face forwards or grab a table which has the Mains for Laptops & Chargers. Certainly after Crewe.
Good Luck!

Bumping this up incase anyone else is ahving problems like me .
Does anyone get to 40% download of the ticket then get " invalid file " ?
I'm chasing Virgin for my tickets for the last 15 days , nightmare company to deal with .0 -

Or the other trick is to save the MAN_EUS.DCF to your Phone Memory or MemStick. Therefore you in theory will be able to use the ONE SIM to display the FOUR tickets for 2 people to the nice ticket collector. Remember this nonsense is NOT their fault!
Hi Vic,
Could you confirm whether this works? Is it safe to display both tickets on the same phone? It is unclear on their website (typically!), and I wanted to make sure before boarding the train!
Thanks for your help!

CC....
The two sims one phone does work and is acceptable I have done this over 6 times I am now known as VIC Whittington as I goto London so much with this system. The bottom line is as long as you can SHOW the ticket with correct TIME/DATE/VISA Number with correct VISA Card with you.
I'm actually going tomorrow using the 2 Sim/Ticket 1 Phone system. I'm working on a 4 SIM / 2 Phone system to take a party of four down.
So don't worry, you've paid to travel, you get to travel.
Another TIP the seats are allocated in Carriage " D " starting at D1 so if you want to grab a table seat goto D50 onwards and they are usually not reserved. If they are just move back to your original D1, D2 etc etc.
Good luck and have fun!

Mobitix is back, but unfortunately for me with my new 3skypephone bought especially for the tickets, I cannot get through the registration process. I get 2 textmessages the 2nd having the link to download the test ticket which doesnt load!
very annoyed!0 -
MOBITIX is indeed back however the prices are MANCHESTER - LONDON Return LOWEST = £16 (Singles @ £8.00) HIGHEST can be Return £30 (Single @ £15.00)
However I have booked to Travel MAN - LON 18th Sept(FRI) return 19th Sept(SAT) from the main VIRGIN SITE
http:// www. farefinder. virgintrains. co. uk /
and NOT The MOBITIX Nonsense Site. Cost = £19 Return. £8 Single & £11 Single. Tickets are REAL Tactile Ones remember them! Sent via Postman Pat and his mates at NO Charge. NOTE: These were purchased online on 6th July 2009.
So if you really can book in advance go for the MAIN SITE and opt for TICKETS and not MOBITIX which is way to dodgy if your phone dies etc etc. PEACE OF MIND go Tactile!
Give it a try...

Hope that helps.

My friend just bought some mobitix for the first time and had changed her phone since registering. Not realising this would be an issue, she went and bought two tickets.
It now says they cannot be downloaded to her phone as she has changed her handset and she can't change her handset on the site because it's associated with some tickets. Plus they're refusing to a) refund or b) delete and then change her deets and rebuy.
Is there anything she can do?!0 -
A change of PHONE is not the problem I feel, it is just the change of SIM Card. Does your friend have the OLD SIM? If she does it will have been sent to that. If she has not she will have to Register the NEW Sim from the New Phone. Make sure her NEW Phone can access the Internet correctly and Re-Register the SIM. They CAN NOT refuse a refund. Email :-

I have had a RE-SEND of a Mobitix & also a REFUND in the past.
Good Luck
