Of course we were all new at one time, however regardless if you're new or a 10000+ posters you should be able to read peoples feedback and accept their opinion/banter, you may not agree with it but your only asking for peoples opinion, surely thats what a forum is all about.

Anyway the OP has gone on her way now oh well c'est la vie.

    all the best

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when the OP thinks that they are the only ones in that situation and it's never happened to anyone else and is looking for sympathy what do they expect?

I've had lots of help here and have offered lots of help but if they don't like other people's opinions then that's the way it goes.

OK, thanks everyone for all your very useful comments! I'm signing off and no longer wish to be a part of this ridiculous chit chat, it's just an excuse for those of you with far too much time on your hands to pull others apart, Good old Brits.

    Thank you & goodbye!

Ah! One of those "agree with me or I won't play any more" posters! :D

Not that it comes as any great surprise given that in her very first post she whines about the cost of flights: "it's soooooooooo unfair, we're soooooooo upset – we absolutely MUST travel to our holiday home several times a year!" !!!!!!!

I still see holidays as a privilege and not a right – and I'm fortunate enough to have several of them a year!
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

We are sooooo upset. Why is it fair that the person sitting in front of you could be paying so much less or in fact so much more than you.

I'm sure you're normally happy to travel knowing you've paid a lot less than others sitting in front of you, because you timed your booking well. Or do you go around checking what everyone else has paid and offer them some of what you've saved because it's not fair that they've been charged more than you?

As has been pointed out, it's just the way things work, and when you are happy with the price you buy. And you should avoid checking what happens to the price afterwards!
  • Up until recently I worked in the travel industry. As a general rule the airlines will allocate a certain number of seats at a certain fare, and when they are gone prices go up. In your case the price has gone down, which could be the result of a special offer - which we don't get to hear about in advance (no, not even the agents). This can happen if there's a surplus of seats left on the flight, but it doesn't occur often. What BA and Qantas have only just done is decrease their taxes (which lately have counted for a huuuuuge portion of the cost). Another factor is the type of ticket - yours may be fully flexible in terms of cancellations and date changes, and the person's in front fixed. There are lots of factors to bear in mind, but with regards to getting your money back, the price you paid is the price you agreed, and it's no different to buying a telly or something in the shop then it going on special offer a few weeks later.

Sadly it's the way airlines work. ;)
