I have just been to my bank to order some Krona, they have stopped trading with it at the moment. Their advise was to take some US dollars and change it there. I then phoned their travel line and was told to take UK sterling and change it there.
I think I will be taking UK sterling, US dollars, debit and credit cards.
The advice to take $US was no doubt tempered by the commission they would earn on selling you them which they wouldn't get if you took ££
It rarely pays to do two currency conversions when visiting a country0 -
I read this thread as we had real trouble finding any Icelandic Krona for a week long trip (which starts tomorrow)..
basically nobody had anyexcept Thomson Travel who put some on 2 day order but then let us down after saying they had ordered it in for us.. my wife went today to pick it up and they 'had forgotten' to call us to say they couldn't fulfill the order. Doh.
So I'm going armed with debit an credit card and will hopefully use the ATM at the airport.. :rolleyes:Mark

That's all we ended up doing at New Year. Pretty much everywhere takes cards, including hot dog stalls, and had no issues at all just either paying with credit/debit cards or withdrawing cash at an ATM.0
