Has anyone arranged a mortgage secured against any of the properties?? (not rmortgaged their own UK property to raise the money)
I am interested because if a Lender be it English or Bulgarian has agreed to lend money secured against the apartment then they would be confident the develpment will be completed.
This would put all our minds at rest.0 -
Hi guys

Hi All,
I have just found this forum and have been very interested in all your comments. Me and my Husband are purchasing an appartment in Cornelia 1.
In reply to the comment above, we tried to arrange a mortgage through Alpha Bank (Bulgaria) and they have refused the mortgage application due to the property being at a resort location and not worth the amount we were asking to borrow and certanly not on the grounds of affordablitiy from us.
To explain further we applied for a 70,000 Euro mortgage and the bank have only vauled the property at 40,000 Euro (Which is very worrying!!). Due to the current climate they would only agree to lend us half of that value which is 20,000 Euro. We have paid the first payment of 31,000 Euro. We now feel that it would be a mistake to try and raise the rest of the money in UK as i dont believe the property will ever be worth what we have been asked to pay and that the further investment needed for the area would be a long time coming - if ever!!
We have recieved an email from Nadya stating that if we terminate the contract we will lose all the money we have paid to date, as this is bulgaria law .... ?? When in fact the contract clearly states only the deposite is non-refundable.
I would be interested to hear any of your thoughts and if anyone else is in a simlar position. We feel that we have been led down the garden path by both Ambasun and Cornelia group.
Kind regards JDC10 -
