To be honest I dont really think its anything to do with which transmitter the signal is comming from... The problem is that this machine is full of faults. I think its time that everone returned thiers for a refund and wait for something better to come along.
At the moment I dont think there is any pvr on the market that hasnt got a fault with it.0 -
after update my lost recording and hard drive continuously spinning problems have been solved but the no signal problem has got much worse and no audio happens sometimes too which didn't before. problems go away when rebooted but is reall hassle turning if off at the back and you can't do when recording! which the no signal problem occurs when i do so no more freeview until its finished recording.
not taken it back, going to a least watch what recording i have made first. so sad as its great box of tricks if only the software was fixed. obviously their budget for that is low but would save having them all being returned instead!
Aldi please test your electronic devices before selling or your reputation will be seriously tarnished.thanks to everyone who has thanked me!0 -
Hi all, I looked at this product when it was first mentioned here and very nearly bought one! I am obviously glad i did not.
I finally plumped for the Humax PVR9200T twin tuner 160GB hardrive freeview box.
It really is fantastic and is a best buy in acouple of trade mags. It costs more than the Technosonic unit but is clearly superior.
I would strongly recommend this model and it is currently available in Comet stores @ £199.
Hope this helps anyone interested in getting a Freeview PVR.
Have a great New Year

After looking around it seems to me that if your willing to part the cash then the Humax PVR9200T is the best pvr on the market and has had some good reviews..
The downside is the price at around £200.0 -

The 9200 is not without problems. Users have a significant number of lock-ups resulting in lost recordings and also complete loss of recordings in it's library. These issues are probably not as frequent as the No Signal problem with the Technosonic but the consequences for those user who experience them are much more serious. Potentially the Humax will be a great PVR, maybe even the best when these issues are sorted as I expect they will be in some currently unknown time period. I'm not getting one until it's reliability is proven. One of my reasons for getting the Technosonic was to get a cheap interim PVR until the Humax is sorted.

If you have set up a favourite list then check you are recording the correct programme from the EPG. I enable a favourite list and attempted to record a program from the 15th programme in the EPG list. The record box (where you can adjust the channel and times) had the wrong programme set to record (this was the 15th programme in the FULL programme list). What was even more confusing, the title of the programme in the recording list was the one I wanted to record but the actual recording was the one from the wrong channel. So to avoid any confusion I have disabled the favourite list.
If Technosonic / TechnoTrend are monitoring this tread, please make the Timeshift feature more robust. The user is asked to confirm that they want to cancel Timeshift if the Stop button is pressed but Timeshift is cancelled without confirmation if any other button (other than the ones used in Timeshift) are pressed. It's very annoying when you accidentally press the wrong button and lose the recording.0 -

Did the update on mine on the 30th, has fixed most of the problems, but also a bit strangely, the software version number reads v2.04????
Also I've noticed that I can fast-forward live TV!?!?! So far I've watched back to back episodes of eastenders, and am up to mid-march '06. Phil and Sharon DO get it on by the way, oh and Sonia kisses Pauline in the Vic.
I also know what saturdays lotto draw will be, but that'd be telling.
lol.
I CAN predict, however, that you'll probably all follow my lead in returning the !!!!!! and getting a digifusion 200 for £60 more - r-e-l-i-a-b-l-e, and you can record two simultaneous channels and watch a recording at the same time...like a real PVR does.
happy new year!0 -
