Well I've tried both the Technosonic and the Digifusion now and I can confidently say (or at least as confidently as 1 day of use allows ;)) that the Digifusion is a *far* superior product.

It feels solid - like a piece of consumer equipment should. The Technosonic felt like it might fall apart if you looked at it too strongly. The Digifusion is not comparable...it's simply in a different league.

The reception is miles better on the same aerial on the Digifusion.

I haven't come across any bugs yet.

Rewind TV is great - as is the feature where you can record a show up to 30 minutes from the beginning and it will restrospectively record the start of the show.

the 14-day EPG is fantstic - I can program everything for Christmas day this weekend!

As for recording 2 things at once, well I'm going to see how well that works tonight!

Well pleased I got rid of the Technosonic.

Just trying to get throught to the help desk to try and sort out installation.

Hour and a half so far and still in queue.

Has anyone else tried today?? Think I'm losing the will to live!!
  • i dont know whether to send it back or not!!!
    mmmm free stufffffffff :p
  • Well from Rowridge transmitter Hants no sound dropouts but have had the no signal fault once and both mornings the time has frozen and needed switching off and on at the back, but my scheduled recordings are still there, guess they must be stored on the hard disk, will wait until the queue goes down to ring the helpline though, it's a shame because when working it is exactly what I wanted and is much quieter than other units I have heard.
What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots
  • yes, there are some nice points about the 101, so I am going to persevere with mine for a while. The almost complete absence of any noise is a great plus and it runs very cool.

Still, I have never had the 'no signal problem. For those who have - have you seen the post on here about the lack of support for the aerial connectors inside the box. It could be worth checking that these connections are good and not intermitant.
  • Just lost line lock again. Its been on since 10 this morning (6hrs). Not at night this time!

Anyone else get this horizontal /diagonal scrolling picture fault? I call it lost line lock. I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else.
  • Humax PVR8000T80 is a single tuner job. You cannot watch a different channel while recording. The Daewoo is also a single tuner box

If you buy a single tuner PVR very soon you'll wish you had bought a twin tuner. And they're not that much more expensive.
  • Bought mine from the Pontefract store (West Yorks), they only had 12 and they all went in the first minute.

I don't have the sound problem on ITV1 that some have reported (transmission from Emley Moor).

NO SIGNAL message has appeared twice, once while changing channel from the Channel List and another time when selecting News Multiscreen on BBC News 24.

If P+ has been used to change channel, then TV (Toshiba) volume +/- also changes up through the PVR channels. If P- has been used, then TV vol +/- changes down through PVR channels. Changing channel without using P+/-, then TV vol control does not affect PVR channels.

Locked up in standby mode and so required a reboot.

Picture freezes in Timeshift when recording starts (either from timer or OTR). Sound continues ok, but frozen picture can only be cleared by FF to current time. Recording is still intact so you can rewind to where you were.

No Rewind Live TV as there is no automatic buffering. You can get round this by starting Timeshift when you start watching a channel. Press Pause then Play so you are still watching live TV and everything will be recorded so you can rewind live TV.

No Chase Play but a good tip given by someone else is to stop and restart the recording so you can watch the first bit while still recording the second bit.

    Only 15 timer entries!

The Aldi e-mail had this "Can record 2 channels at the same time whilst watching one of them" which I took to mean two timer recordings. The statement is still correct as there is one timer recording + one Timeshift recording at the same time.

It does have some good features:
    Fast channel change
Resume playback from where you stopped watching
Very easy to adjust times when setting record from EPG
Choice of List or Timeline EPG
2 minute skip to jump the adverts
    GOTO time in playback
  • Shame that good value and quality do not exist on this product. The no signal problem totally obliterates the otherwise good user interface etc. Mines going back now.
