from the proud owner of a technochronic 101 which doesn't think it has a hard disk - I don't think OTA updates will remedy some of the flaws this box seems to have.
mine will be replaced by something decent humax/toppy or fusion i think0 -
monty58.
To cure the no sound on ITV, select channel 9 and then down arrow back to ITV channel 3. This is the work around0 -

Ive recorded a program on the 80gb Hard Disc of the Aldi PVR - I would now like to save it to DVD. How do I do this?
All help and advice appreciated
There is no socket to allow connection to a computer. There are two ways to do what you want, neither of them really satisfactory.
1) Connect a DVD recorder to the SCART socket and record in 'real time' as you play the recording back.
2) Connect the actual hard disk in the PVR to a computer to copy the data directly. However, the operating system in the PVR does not use DOS/FAT/NTFS so therefore won't be seen by a normal home computer. Some people have speculated that it may use one of the 'nix' o/s's such as linux or FreeBSD. Although I run both of these systems I have already taken my PVR back to Aldi due to the other problems, so can't say for certain which system it uses.

Where did this assumption that there is to be a OTA update on Dec 28th come from. There is no evidence of this on the download schedule. See link below.

Many thanks for that advice Virgo. Although very time consuming guess I will use number one option.0

Using the 'loopthrough' for my satellite receiver (thru the Aldi PVR) I get very poor colour reproduction. In particular it seems to have a problem with green and yellow shades. Anyone else here having a problem like this? Colour reproduction from PVR Freeview itself is okay.0

Check out bodgerbill's post on page 26.
It would be good to get this confirmed by someone else at Key.

I think by now the general consensus is to send the flipping thing back.0

In response to fixerman, the software update page on the DTG web site only shows updates scheduled for 2 weeks ahead, so I assume that the updates for the 28th promised by the support people should appear tomorrow (Monday).
However, if I understand the notes in the DTG site regarding Thompson updates correctly, it would appear that updates can be broadcast without going through DTG - Hmmm.
I'm inclined to wait and see if an update appears then take it back if nothing materialises or the update is still buggy.
As I suspect that quite a few of these boxes will be Chrissy presents, I imagine that there will be another avalanche of complaints after the 25th!
I don't suppose Bill Gates had anything to do with the software development?0
