Yes - you could take it into your bank - someone needs to sign it and note their job description - alternatively they should accept the signature of someone like an accountant, lawyer, company director etc.` A & L seem a bit picky though - see this thread

Many banks will not certify copies for anything other than immediate internal mailing for various reasons. Best to go to a branch of your bank and to ask them to post it for you, just in case A&L are like that.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Read the info they sent you.
It clearly tells you how to "certify" docs.
If you spent 2 minutes reading the paper they sent you, you would not be wasting everyone elses time by posting on the forum....!
I opened the same account last week, and it's not difficult to do if you read the blurb they send you...

It is not always simple to provide the required information.
For example, I live at 6-8 Example Street. Some companies use that, some just use "6" or "8" some use 6&8 and some use 68!! On top of this my postcode was changed (for the same address) from EX1 1JJ to EX13 4JJ. I'm forever getting refusals for deliveries or internet purchases because some records haven't been updated.
Finally, I shred all my utility bills the moment they are paid (and bank statements), so it is quite hard to send them in as evidence of address!!!
Why not just request a DNA swab?????

You shred everything? Why?0

Their verification is the worst I've ever ever seen, and I've opened loads of accounts over the last few years - after two attempts to get certified, including turning up in the branch with my official, original documents, passport, drivers licence and several utility bills, they STILL couldn't open the account.
Told them to shove it, and opened an Icelandic Account instead - don't get me started on that one though

.....and a recent utility bill is gold dust!

Certification of documents is a nightmare. I was recently asked for copies of passport and address details as I'm buying a house (solicitors are not in my local area so needed certified copies). I tried my own bank, which happens to be A&L, and they actually refused to do it, because it was not something directly to do with their own business.
Local police wouldn't do it, I do not have an accountant, and live in a small village without any judges, embassy officials or solicitor's offices round the corner, and I don;t have a car to get about easily. In any case if my own bank refused who else could I ask?!
I understand the need for certification, but it seems like it hasn't been thought through too well, as although the list of people who should do it exists, in reality they don't always comply.0 -
The Post Office does certified copies, at, I think, £5 a throw. I know because a solicitor requested one from me, however as I don't trust the PO to deliver anymore, and it was urgent, I took the passport to the solicitor himself, he only had to see it.
Perhaps you could take yours to a local branch.0
