Huge congratualations for going through all that and taking it in your stride when things didn't go to plan. However that post really needed a warning, I was about to eat my dinner but I'm having scary, scary images of a cervix with a little face poking out now...
Thanks Dinah - yeah should have a warning on it. It is not a story for the faint hearted!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks TooMuch - it was a shame that the cervix wasn't thinning out as I would have loved nothing better than a water birth. The midwife did say if/when I have baby 2 she would be expecting a very quick labour and no need for any pain relief. Not that I am thinking about that for a while!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

You sound like you're gonna be a great mum CMD.
Even though things didnt go to plan, you still were positive the whole way through.
Also love the hair straighteners bit and the Iphone bit! How funny is that, when Max is 18 and reads his birthing story back. I bet thats gonna sounds so outdated!
Thanks Lulu
Yeah - when I think back now to how manic I was about straightening my hair it makes me laugh. You would want to have seen the state of me by the time Max arrived. I was a frizzy mess!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Well done CMD, your Mam and OH sound so supportive and you did really well toget as far as you did. I didn't think it was too scary a birthing story actually!! No blood and guts at least! How's motherhood treating you thus far then?

Well done, sounds like you did a great job despite things not going to plan. Bet you think it was all worth it though.
My friend had her little one Thurs and her story is fairly horrible, still doesn't out me off though!0 -

It is a shame when things don't go quite as we hope, the only one of my 3 labours/births that was OK was DD2 as I had an epidural and didn't lose as much blood as with the other 2. With DD1 I lost 1 litre of blood and my blood count after was 6, had to be readmitted for a blood transfusion and with DD3 I lost 2 litres of blood but luckily my blood count was OK as I'd been on iron tablets. With DD2 I only lost 600 ml. At least all mine were short labours (4 hours 8 mins, 5 hrs 33 mins and about 6/7 hours).
At least you know what to expect now for the next one, I swore after having DD1 that I was never doing it again so was surprised to find myself pregnant again when DD1 was 4 months old.
Definitely worth it all though, I look at my 3 girls when they are asleep or when they are doing something funny or cute and my heart melts.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -

Hi all,
Max is 2 weeks old today and the time has flown although it seems a world away from the day I had him!
He is a very good little baby and likes nothing better than to snuggle up to me or DH after a feed. He is like a little koala bear. He only cries when he is hungry or when I change him.
Debt wise - I couldn't say where we are or what our spends are like. I need to check my banking online and have a look. I think we will be only able to pay the minimum on the loan for the next few months and then start to overpay again when I go back to work. I will see how things go but hopefully I will be able to overpay bits and pieces here and there. I need to sort out my child benefit claim form this week and also look into child tax credits. Will do that this afternoon I think.
OH went back to work today. He has been amazing - doing everything with Max. He is a really hands on Dad and I feel lucky to have him. I got a bit teary last night as I was going to be on my own but we are getting on greatTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
