    Where did get that information?

That is 100% rubbish, once again based on hearsay. DSA monitor all examiners and their test results very closely.

This is just what 2 different instructors said and may, of course, be completely untrue or exaggerated.

The test results of all Driving Examiners at a given Driving Test Centre will always be the same within a few percentage points of each other over a period of time.

How do you know this, and how do you know if it is strictly monitored? It is human nature that some people are going to be more lenient/strict than others.

Shall we quote what you wrote again?

Failure to progress an an appropriate speed (4 marks given) has nothing to do with being given instructions, it is due the drivers inability to read the road conditions and to progress at an appropriate speed and not hinder the progress of other road users.

And compare that to what the OP has said on the subject.

The instructor didn't tell her to go left/right until she was nearly at a junction, so she started to go slowly towards junctions as she was waiting to hear which way to go.

This is nothing to do with driving skill its just a confusion as to what direction the two words mean. She needs someone to indicate with their hands the direction as well as saying "right/left"

What you seem to be missing is that if you were to drive at a slow speed, it would be reasonable to assume it has nothing to do with recieving instructions. For the OPs daughter, however, it is very likely to be related to the wrong method of giving the instructions. And given that the daughter has said she slowed down to compensate for the wrong instruction method, I can't work out how you know the OPs daughter better than she knows herself and better than her mother knows her?

I did not miss anything posted by the OP but if she did slow down to give herself more time i.e. in anticipation of the next examiners instruction, she should know herself that this would be a reason to fail the test.

So what you're saying is it's tough luck that she didn't understand the instructions, she should have driven faster and then missed the turns and panicked about which way to turn and what the instructor was saying.... really? That would have been much better would it? And even if you think this would have been much better, who told this 17-18 year old girl before the test "If the examiner does not give correct instructions don't slow down just keep driving where you want to go."?

Hi, just wondering, if you have yet filed your complaint?

So why state it as fact?

Trust me, I know this for 100% certain, examiners test to a set standard, they are not allowed to be lenient/strict.

Examiners are regularly checked by their superiors to ensure common standards are applied, as well as having their results monitored.

Wig, you really are getting out of your depth now, perhaps time to stop digging yourself deeper in to a hole.

You obviously have no idea of how a driving test is conducted.

I am only exanding on espressos comment, if you have a point to make on that, fine, but what you just wrote means nothing.

Trust you!!! When you have shown mistrust in everything I have said on this thread and everything my daughter has said and now you want me to believe that everything you say is 100% correct???

You have shown a lot of venom, mainly directed at Wig but some directed at me. Why you are so annoyed that I am complaining to the DSA for not providing a special needs test when they said they would is beyond me. Anyone would think you were the examiner that took my daughter out on her test!

Yes, I telephoned the DSA the next day. They have it on record that she was to have a special needs test and didn't know why this wasn't taken up at the test centre. They instructed me to send an email with all the details, which I did.

My daughter received a letter yesterday asking for her permission for me to deal with the matter on her behalf, because of the Data Protection Act. She signed and posted this yesterday and we are waiting for the DSA to now look into the matter.

Well please yourself, but I can assure you that everything that I stated in the above post is fact.

It seems to me like you are just trying to blame anyone and everyone for your Daughters failure to pass her test, as the ADI said, none of us were there, including yourself.

I don't have a problem with you complaining to the DSA, however they will of course get both sides of the story before making a decision.

I really don't think they will "look at both sides of the story". They will simply contact the Test Centre to see if they gave my daughter a special needs test and, if not, why? It may be someone at fault at the DSA or at the Test Centre itself. I doubt if they will be grilling the examiner herself or asking for her opinion. They will simply ascertain what test she was given and, if not a special needs test, then who is at fault?
