I am not condeming anyone. I am saying that the fee will continue to drop for as long as there are takers.
Now even if the pub is next door it would not take 10 minutes, Just reading the notes take 10 minutes or uploading the photo or whatever they want as evidence.
How is this possible on a couple of quids?
"Alternatively, someone who can't afford a night out could have one in return for filling in 4 questions".

    I rest my case!
  • If you don't think the fee is enough, dont take the job simple.

It's supply and demand, people who think it's enough (newbies etc) will pick up these jobs as they are easy, maybe do them once and not again.

Eventually, hopefully, the message will get through and they will have to raise the fee/

Look at the recent Lloyds Pharmacy jobs, they hung around for absolutely ages on my page, eventually had to double the fee to get rid.

The point is that Clients requires specific people to do certain jobs in as realistic a way as possiblee and in the world Mystery Shopping, thats the way it is otherwise half the jobs we do would not be possible. Female shoppers are more likely to stand out say in a going for a quote to buy a lorry than males, in the same way males in lady's clothing would stand out a mile off! If clients need alochol sales checked by under 21's, then as a 28 year old it defeats the point me doing the assignment. I dont think it is unreasonable that the ask for Male or Female mystery shoppers for some assignments and think your comment shows you dont actually understand the point of Mystery Shopping - its not a free for all to bring you freebies - it does have some serious points for Clients not just in terms of service but also for legal checks for example! Its not TNS etc who dictate the restrictions its the Clients who need to jobs done.

Talk of age discrimination and sex discrimination is just plain stupid.

I can't help thinking some of the the comments are by mystery shopper representatives posing as mystery shoppers. If I have rattled your cage, good. Obviously mystery shoppers have to blend in but quite often it is just blatant discrimination. For example, in your local pub you see people of all ages but some companies persistently have age limits. The idea that at 56 people no longer go to the pub is ridiculous. They just believe that people at that age are no longer up to the job which is nonsense. It is age discrimination pure and simple. So anyone who says that discrimination does not happen is either "plain stupid" or they have an agenda.

I have a clear idea what mystery shopping is all about and the idea that I or anyone else does not take it seriously is an insult to all of us and is an indication of the attitude of some of these companies.

As for the claim that the clients dictate the restrictions, isn't it strange that some companies are far worse than others.

Very strange - I know there's a few women on here that did them as I've advised before when people have been nervous of what to do. Having said that, there haven't been any show up for me at all this month and that particular shop isn't currently showing.... Was this recently - hope they haven't taken them off us!

It was ages ago; Gap refused to pay me twice and I can't be bothered to work for them as their questionnaires and customer service are both dire.

I don't think that anyone believes that 56 year olds don't go to the pub. However, the client won't be interested in what a 56 year old thinks if their whole concept is targeted at the 25-35 age range, for example.

I disagree - it's not that they don't think you are up to the job, again they just don't care what you, at 56, think!

I don't agree that it's discrimination so, according to you, I must either be 'plain stupid' or I've got an agenda. :rotfl: I'm not plain or stupid & I have no agenda. :D

I just accept that the client sets the criteria for the mystery shopping company.

A pub chain with a soft play area will obviously want their visits done by shoppers with young children. Is that discriminating against shoppers with older children and discriminating against childless shoppers? By your reasoning it is! :rotfl: Some 56 year olds might love going to this type of pub & seeing kids playing happily but the client isn't interested in your opinion.

I'm not insulted by the idea that some people don't take mystery shopping seriously. I only have to read some of the posts on this & the previous mystery shopping threads to have proof that there are plenty of people who think it's a jolly good way of making a few quid for little effort & even less commitment to doing the job properly.

You claim to understand what mystery shopping is all about but don't believe that the clients impose the restrictions. :rotfl: It would be far easier for the mystery shopping companies if there were no restrictions & they could allocate the jobs to any old Tom, !!!!!! or Harry.

It's swings and roundabouts really. I was recently saw some work for a private hearing test, but you had to be over 50 to do the job.

I know some opticians prefer over 30's, as under 30's don't get all the tests such as the one where they blow a puff of air in your eye.

FWIW I would have done the £2.50 pub jobs. I did consider one as I walked past it today, but it was match day and I knew it would be absolutely heaving, so I decided it would be too difficult.
Here I go again on my own....
  • I did 5 city centre pubs in a night once. I had a jolly nice time, but it was such a blur the next morning when I had to write up the results. The company had really struggled to find someone prepared to do rough city centre pubs on a Saturday night.

I also had to re-do a mystery shop on a car dealer where the original person had actually been talked into buying the car on finance and everything:eek:
  • I can't believe people are arguing that £2.50 is a reasonable fee.

Go through the process it is not just doing the job is it? I do note that there are still a lot available across my areas and that is at it should be.

    It's all relative.

Simple job, you're passing by anyway, quick & easy reporting, combine a few together, it might be worthwhile for some people. That's what I'm saying.

Has anyone looked at these £2.50 pub jobs? It is literally four questions - no photo needed, no receipt needed....four fairly easy questions. If you're walking past a pub anyway, walk through it and you'll be able to get the info you need for these ones...
I accept what is being said about the low fees - but there are some of us with little choice.
I never accept assignments that will cost me money - but I think with RE some assignments are better than others - I have another assignment next week within 5 mins walk where I will be paid £5.
I think it's down to personal choice -as with most things in this world.
