I didn't think anyone would take the new RE pub jobs with the miserly fee. However I've just logged in and more than 100 have gone so maybe I was wrong.

I just hope that people only take them if they happen to be passing the pub anyway otherwise it's not worth it and RE are really taking advantage.

Oops... two of those are taken by me! I'm hopping over to the next town, and doing a platform mystery shop as well, plus I was going there anyway.

I've got one of the pub jobs too, buts in my home town and only 15mins walk for me so not too bad. I wish I didn't have to work for such a small amount but thats what happens when you're in debt right before christmas....
Also, I thought I would go in with a story about having a party or something at the weekend and can I see the menu to get an idea of what food you serve blah blah...

I've taken one of those RE pub jobs too - please don't hate me! I need all the extra cash I can get....!!
But, in my defence, it is a pub about 2 mins walk away, that I need to visit for my day job anyway....!

Well there you go, next time they'll pay 50p and the work will still be taken. They get most of their work by undercutting other companies. The other companies that are refusing to pay their shoppers a non decent fee are loosing contracts to RE. Guess who is encouraging this?
I don't do pubs but I saw that fee on here and thought there must be a printing error!
Did you know that you can make the same money from the comfort of your home by filling out surveys?
I think the pressure of competition makes this worst, jobs you wouldn't usually accept you end up doing because you know that if you blink they may be gone!
    We deserve better than this!!!
  • I think I'm getting somewhat jaded by the whole thing at the moment. I was meant to do 6 jobs today, but ended up cancelling the last two as a) the pay was crap, and b) one of them had been cancelled last week and put in this week as they hadn't managed to get the last round of this job done, so when they had finally got it done, the one I'd signed up for was now within five days of the previous assessment. Thing is, they didn't ask, just went ahead and changed it. It's Gap incidentally, and I'm getting more and more hacked off with them. I did two stamp shop jobs for them today, which went ok except I was given the wrong receipt in one of them. But the questionnaire has loads of boxes you have to mark as N/A as they've got one generic questionniare for all stamp shop jobs. Why not have individual questionnaires for goodness sake. It'd take them five minutes compared with the hours all MSers will spend mindlessly ticking boxes for no good use.

    Rant over.

I don't much like this comment, and from the context, I'm one of the people its aimed at. I've just been dipping my toe into this thread - I won't bother any more, I'll be off back to my own community on here.

I am sorry that you did not like it but it is the reality. It is not aimed at you as you and any one else is a victim of their mentality. Many others will refuse to pay peanuts and many shoppers will refuse to accept peanuts.
Still don't let this descourage you I am talking in general and not about you or anyone else.

Why is £2.50 such a terrible fee for a job that will take 10 minutes?

On my page there are 5 pubs which are within a few hundred yards of each other, along with several more which are a 10-15 minute walk away.

Surely anyone who normally goes out in my town on a Saturday night could easily combine their night out with a few of these jobs & the fees received will pay for the drinks they would have bought anyway.

Alternatively, someone who can't afford a night out could have one in return for filling in 4 questions.

Personally, these jobs don't interest me at all. My pubbing days in town are long gone & I'd prefer a night in front of the telly. Obviously no one is going to accept one of these jobs & drive out of their way specially, that would be madness, but let's not condemn people who accept jobs which suit them & their own circumstances.

    That was exactly my thinking.
