    Hi
I've been following the chat for a while now and I have been feeling a bit of a perv, never having had the nerve to join in, or anything interesting to say.....
anyway I thought I would chip in with the GR gossip. The called me this evening asking me to take on a job that had been on their site for a while but too far for me to travel so they are still trading, at least for bank assignments anyway.
Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(

Also ukmonkey, blindman was posting about a job that was available on the alerts thread - so no need to swear you know! :naughty:

I thought my post about a job that was available (On the "Jobs available alert thread ) was more appropritate than his\hers stupid comment.

    I've PM'd him\her for an explanation.

I won't hold my breath

Mystery shopping came up in conversation today at work and a couple of us battling debts decided it would be well looking into.

I am in full time work (for now) and am in the 40% tax bracket - In anyones best estimation is MS worth it if you have to pay 40% on everything you earn ?

My friend is on income support and DLA and is not able to do a regular job but could manage a shopping trip if I drove her around - would doing mystery shopping affect these benefits in any way ?

    Many thanks

With regards to GR, I got accepted as a mystery shopper today. No jobs are appearing, but I figure that is because I'm new.

Did they offer you an increased fee. A while ago, they rang me to do a job at short notice. I said it wasn't worth my while and they upped the fee 50%.

GR are on a fastest finger first basis, they'll send you an email when jobs are avaliable in your area, you just have to log in before anyone else to get it.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hmm - a bit worrying about Grassroots! Although their website shows new people they've just recruited etc. but I suppose these days you just don't know. They are one of my favourites and I get a lot of work from them - have done six different types of jobs over the last couple of days for them, and got two more on Monday. So far not had any cancellations but we'll see! I've just put my reports in for today's lot quick - just in case!
There's been a bank one on my page for a couple of days now - quite rare for them to still be there! It's one I do quite often but this particular branch is too awkward for me to get to.

Hope everything is OK with them as they have been great to work with.

The fastest finger first bit is true, but you can see how many jobs you have missed out on. When I first joined it was a good few weeks (maybe even a couple of months) before I was even offered an assignment - I could tell because it said 0 under 'assignments no longer available'. No idea why it took so long for jobs to show up, but thought I'd mention it in case it takes a while for you, too - so you don't worry too much!

Most of the benefits of mystery shopping count as expenses- even though I do a fair bit I don't make anything in real profit- of course I do benefit, but it isn't stuff that is taxable. Suggest you look at the first few posts for lots of helpful info.

With regards to your friend, I think she would have to be very very careful... She would obviously have to declare the work, even if she doesn't make very much and the DWP may very well say if she can walk around shops all day and enter in data to a computer she is well enough to work in an office or shop! I personally wouldn't think it would be worth the risk for her...
