uk tim you served a 1000 customers you spoke to each one, assuming it was an 8 hour day and you took your legal breaks of 2 15mins and 1/2 hour for lunch , you did all this in 6 hours
my problem has been solved if all the supermarkets, banks ,employed people like super man tim there would be no queues.
Also you cant realy compare my shop to a supermarket , there are as you know very small if any queues in small shops .
As for banks they know when the busiest times are and yet every time this comes there are only 2 staff on the counter, they demand we should use the paying in machines then when they get made redundentbloody moan.
They or there union are there worst enemies,
I do actually shop on line most of the time and i am happy doing that to be honest and have no complaints, but i would happily bet on more people would side with me with regards queues and poor service and to be honest i dont give a toss about supermarkets and there tight margins why should i ?i will pay for a better service every time .
Ive been in asda max 2/3 in a queue, sainsburys around the same morrisons 6/7, it is down to the running of the store and staff retention.
My wife worked for a main retailer, staff were asked to finish there breaks and return to work early to stop queues and went late to lunch if the shop was busy (monsoon)customers always came first that was just over 2 years ago , but im sure uktim will come out with some legal clap trap.
perhaps if shops employed part time workers for 4 hours a day no break need to be given ??0 -

You've had an easy working life then haven't you. For 8 hours I use to get half an hour break and that was it. That left 7 and a half hours.
And you'll saying when I worked in retail you would have suggest I had no break at all, but yet you give the impression out of every 8 hours you worked you only did 6 hours work. Bit of a cheek then isn't it you think people who work in retail should not even have breaks.
So you already know people in retail often get their breaks cut short because your wifes told you and your saying they should have no break at all. Do you want a ball and chain around their feet as well?THE_LONE_RANGER wrote: »but i would happily bet on more people would side with me with regards queues and poor service and to be honest i dont give a toss about supermarkets and there tight margins why should i ?
Yes but most of those will have no idea how to run such business's and don't seem to realise 2 + 2 does not = 6.THE_LONE_RANGER wrote: »perhaps if shops employed part time workers for 4 hours a day no break need to be given ??
Works in the evening with students doesn't work in the day. Too many people who are looking for work outside the part time/shift areas of the day want full time work.THE_LONE_RANGER wrote: »i will pay for a better service every time
Well go and do that and don't use Supermarkets then!!!!!:rolleyes:0 -
Haha my colleague worked at monsoon and she left because the pay was awful and they treat staff badly!! You have to get the BALANCE right.Kavanne

mmmmmmm surprise surprise, how ever i now have no gripe as uktim can deal with a 1000 customers a day and do it with only one break so it is possible.
why cant every one else are they swinging the lead ???,
uktim in my opinion knows everything with regards retail and in my opinion he is the man for the job and all retail workers should be modelled on him.

Hey fab! Another argument!
Wait while I go and get my popcorn from the misleading pics thread... need another Coke though.
All these people willing to spend their free time entertaining us with squabbles really is great! Very public spirited of them. OK I'm back. Lock and load!
Go for it!0 -
