Comodo is not without it's "quirks"

Im not disputing that at all. Simply that zone' appears to have shed loads more (and speaking from personal experience, comodo doesnt appear to conflict with ANY software anymore that im aware of, its usually just people ticking the wrong things ~ blocking things from working)

Im simply trying to see if uninstalling cures the problem for now.

It's not necessary to completely uninstall, just right click shutdown.

I asked the OP to uninstall as in my own experience (dont ask me why ~ it has its 'quirks' like I said), just shutting down wont necessarily cure the problem. Though by all means, try that first.

I completely accept it can be confusing. But its pretty easy really.
FIREWALL ~ just allow or block and REMEMBER or dont

DEFENSE ~ when installing or uninstalling switch defense off. Then back into SAFE mode.
Other settings are WINDOWS APP (normally), TRUSTED (for trusted things like anti virus software etc) and UPDATE (updating obviously ~ anti virus updates for example) and REMEMBER

The first part of the error page that I linked to in post #3 says:
    Error: 81000306

    1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then try to visit the following Web sites:
    Messenger service status
    Microsoft web site
If you cannot visit these sites, contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for information about how to set up your Internet connection so that you can visit both secure (https) and non-secure (http) sites.
