  • Morning Rebecca

We haven't agreed anything with Payplan yet. The first phone call wasn't what I expected at all. I expected a counsilor to speak to us about how deep in we were and and then advise us on the various stages of the application as well as giving us adivse on the accounts & depts etc. The lady we spoke to on the first appointment just took a list of the depts and our expenses and said they'd be in touch! The chap I spoke to last night was a bit more helpful and left it that should we decide to go with them we just needed to sign and return the papers. To be fair there was no pressure at all and he instructed me as what to do with the exsisting acccounts etc.
I'm a very impatiant person and always want things sorted here and now but I'm going to have to be patient with this one and so I wont make a decision until we've spoken to CCCS.

As for what we have left at the end of the month to pay the depts the soa says 278. Our soa very much mirrors yours but It depends on what the debt management company will allow you to have for expenses. For example I've allowed 70 a month for car maintainance and I've exagerated certain expenses to allow for price rises next year.

Dont know about you but I'd like to keep this thread going so we can keep bouncing off each other as our circumstances seem almost identical in every way.
The only difference is you have 3 children and we only have 1 at the moment but we've been on fertility treatment for some time now and stopping that just isn't an option! I've done the maths for when number 2 does arrive and one of the cars will defo have to go to cover the extra loss of earnings etc and we should be just about ok. I think:confused:

Yes, keeping this thread going is a great idea, its really helping me to be honest.

Im a bit scared of over exagerating things on the expenses in case it comes out taht we cant even afford a DMP.

Im really worried as on our SOA we havent really got much room for manouvere, im scared about how we pay for 2 of our childrens birthdays that are soon and of course christmas!! Its going to be a shell shock for me who is used to always having a credit card to turn to in these times.

Im seeing my GP tomorrow about claiming incapacity, that will help alot if I manage to get that.

How are relations with you and your OH? Me and DH are fine, but still no figures discussed.
  • We're getting on fine and I think the wifes very releived to have it all out in the open. She's anxious now for the doctor to get in touch and tell her what course of action she can take for the addiction. Talk to yours about it tomorrow. Ours was great and totally agreed that it was a recognised condition which was a releif.

Have you cut your cards up yet? The sooner you do that the sooner you can start and get used to handling hard cash instead of plastic, lets face it your going to have to sooner or later! It was the first thing I did when I found out.

Oh and by the way thanks for naming the wife as the fraudster on the other post you great muppet:rolleyes:

oh no ive just realised that, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek shall i get my posts deleted?

sorry my head is just not with it, was trying to help!
  • no its fine I think people will have realised, was just pulling your leg. One thing we must try and do is keep a sense of humour cos if i dont laugh I'll bloody well crack up:eek:

I've been getting some advise re bankrupcy from the bankruptcy section and its worth having a read. More so if you've no equity in the house or if the mort is in hubby's name.

Have a look on go into the thread titled 'advise re bankrupcy' by DON79.

If the mort is in yours or joint names and theres equity in it then the house would go so if thats not an option dont read it.

i have had an email from paypal

    "
Thank you for contacting Payplan – I’ve looked through your details and I’m sure we can help you. We are an ethical organisation offering free, confidential and non-judgmental debt advice. Because we don’t advertise on TV, we won’t charge you a penny for our services. And because we have all the debt solutions under one roof, we’ll make sure you get the one that’s right for you, not the one that’s right for us!

I am a Payplan Case Officer and it’s my job to look after you from here and make the process of becoming debt-free as easy as possible. I’ve created free debt management plans for hundreds of people and most of them say that contacting us in the first place was by far the most difficult step. You’ve already made it past that so it should only get easier from now on.

I can work with you to organise a new repayment agreement that’s more affordable to you while still being acceptable to your creditors, so they call us instead of you from now on. If a Debt Management Plan or an Individual Voluntarily Agreement (IVA) is appropriate, I can set up and help you manage your own personal payment plan. Or if it’s just simple financial planning or budgeting advice you need to help you get back on track, I can do that too."

dont know whether to go with them or cccs, are they exactly the same?

It is in joint names and think have a little bit of equity so best avoid that option

So glad you have a sense of humour, its the only thing that gets me through - although a postnatal depression worker came to see this morning and my sense of humour kept getting me into trouble.

She asked me if I ever heard voices

I said all the !!!!ing time but they seem to belong to my children so dont think they count

she just didnt reply and scribble some notes, they obviously think im a complete loon!

just thinking mark, if you chose bankruptcy, would that be your wife or you taht were bankrupt, if it was just your wife wouldnt it leave behind the debt thats in your name
  • That made me giggle:rotfl:

If we go down that route then it will be the wife only as due to my profession I'm not allowed to go bust, it would cost me my career and that can never happen!
So yes it would still leave the debt in my name but that will be very manageable and in time I may be able to sell one of the cars.

Right I'm off onto ebay now to see if anyone will give me a tenner for the wife:rotfl:
