If you are sick (which you are and you have a sick note) you can claim incapacity benefit just for yourself. This is what I did last year when I had an operation and was off work and I'm self employed. They will ask if you want to claim for anyone else the answer is no as you're husband is working. You are entitled to it in your own right.Hope this helps.0

We rang them, CCCS, this morning and they were really helpful but cant get an appointment with them until next Thursday as they're so busy! I was hoping to get it straight away as Payplan did because I'm so impatient.
I've just been to the bank and opened 4 seperate new accounts with Lloyds.
1 current account for the wages to go into, a current account that i'll put the shopping and petrol money into, another basic account which i'll put about £70 a month into for car maintainance and finally a cash ISA to put the odd spare quid into at the end of the month. mNot that there will be any!
Lloyds were great and very understanding. I explained what I needed and why and the lady was very helpful and only tried to sell me insurance!!
So in under 1 hour i've sorted the new banking and that will all be up and running in a 2 to 3 weeks.
You mention that I must be very understanding, well the wife was terrified of telling me because I'd threatened last time i would leave if it happened again!
I have gone up the wall and done the shouting thing but in all honesty its pointless. I've managed to restrain myself, step back and have a look at whats caused this and now that I have I feel guilty for not helping the wife sooner as I now know she's been suffering alone and in silence and has been going through hell.

Well I got through and like you mark an appointment made for next Thursday, feel disappointed its not straight away but just have to tread water until then I suppose.
I have applied for a Natwest Step Account today, but I like your idea of different accounts for different things, wonder if I could do that with them?
I have also spoken to hubby even more and he doesnt even ask for figures when we talk, think he is as much in denial as I am0 -
Hi Rebecca
Payplan have just rung and they have paperwork in todays post ready for us to sign already!
Put all of your accounts in front of hubby and make him take note. If he's still in denial he cant help you and he MUST help you. Trying to sort it alone has to stop. Theres no way you can bring up 3 children and cope with depression and massive depts alone without damaging yourself further.
As for the bank there shouldn't be any problem opening several accounts but make sure the bank isn't one of your creditors as when you set up the DMP/IVA your new accounts have to be independant of any you owe money to. This is because the banks have a 'right of appreciation' which basically menas if you owe them they can simply dip into your acounts if they wish as your accounts are with them and still active.
