We stayed here http://www.hotel-paris-regenceetoile.com/index.html last week, and its a lovely clean, friendly hotel. Charles De Gaulle metro station is literally 100 yards up the road, as is the Arc De Triomphe, which can be seen from some rooms, and is stunning.

Lots of restaurants around the area, which is very safe, and everyone was super friendly.

WOW! That hotel looks amazing-out of our budget though. We are wanting to spend no more than £150 for the 3 nights. Still no luck so far.

Without being nosy, whats wrong with the two suggested in that budget so far,Don't think we know what you are looking for.Have you tried the pricechecker on tripadviser-that allows you to set a star rating and price bracket-it wont instantly tell you whats near a metro though, you will have to read through reviews

Just be careful as there are some shocking hotels in Paris which will be around your budget. TBH £150 is IMO not a realistic budget for one of the top cities in the world.

    go to
    www.totalstay.com
they give a totalprice..no add ons extra so you know where you are...i have been 6 times and going again in jan for 40th!
can rec the timhotel chain and best western chain.they are nearly all bed breakfast and have small breakfast rom in cellars, i found all my hotels clean.the most shocking thing once was the hotel was right next to a sex shop/theatre in pigalle area! interesting!!..pigalle is very near sacre couer and montmarte..the whole city i found to be quite small compared to London,we could walk almost everywhere but we did use metro a lot as its SO easy to use.have great time
ps we go cheap 2-3 star at the most

just checked...we did timhotel st george and its 156 for double room 3 nights..so it can be done...highly rec totalstay due to its descriptions being very honest..it also gives the arrondissimont or area of paris its in.Its split into approx 21 districts number 1 being the very centre and they spiral outwards so you can judge how far out of centre you are from number.

Thank you for everyone's help with this, it's much appreciated. After searching a lot of hotels, including the ones recommended on here, I have booked an Ibis hotel for just under £120 for 3 nights, B&B, that's close to the Metro.

It had quite good reviews too. Cannot wait to go.

A good choice. I stayed there a couple of years ago. A huge hotel efficiently run by pleasant and accommodating staff.

    I can recommend http://hotels.parishotels.com/hotel-direct.php?hotel=66&lang=en
Right outside Abesses metro in Montmartre, just below the Sacr! Coeur

How far is it on the metro to all the tourist attractions in centre of Paris? Is it best to book breakfast at the hotel or eat out in the morning/

    Thanks
    Val :)
