The trouble with these early tests is that they aren't very accurate when you test early. So in my experience you will test 7 days after ovulation, get a negative, discover they are only 52% accurate that early, so test again, and by the time AF arrives on time, you'll have done between 4 and 6 tests all negative and worked yourself into a frenzy, and spent a fortune. Or worse, got a TLP a few days before AF was due, but AF comes anyway as it was a chemical pregnancy which didn't implant, and then you are devastated because what you would otherwise regard just as AF suddenly becomes a miscarriage in your mind.

Speaking as someone who never followed this advice, but spent a fortune on HPTs over a long period before getting a BFP on the day before AF was due, having not tested early that month

Thanks I knew there was a downside to testing before AF

"A chemical pregnancy is the term given to a pregnancy that ends very early in the first trimester.

"It is believed that chemical pregnancies occur when the fetus dies immediately after conception. This happens before the embryo has a chance to implant in your uterus where it can grow and develop."

    http://www.womens-health.co.uk/chemical.html

But copied that bit out for EA's benefit.

So most of us wouldn't even know we had had one, but with these early pregnancy tests, it can *sometimes* show a positive which is then followed by your AF and confuses and upsets you :o

Chemical pregnancy is where the sperm succeeds in meeting the egg, but the egg doesn't implant successfully in the womb (like what happens with a failed IVF). It happens more often than you might think but is only picked up where an early pregnancy test has been done.

Nicki, you say these things so much better than I do! It upsets me just writing about it. I'm so emotional tonight and didn't even realise it until then!

You'd be easy to spot in the photos then! "Where are you?" - "I'm the one with the biggest grin from ear to ear!" :A

Probably just describing what I would be feeling like! Nope, I would be worse: "I'm the one doing cartwheels..." :rotfl:
