Ted, perhaps you could now leave this issue well alone - lots will no doubt read your posts, again added to today, and make an informed decision - but it does in the end come down to personal choice and your point doesn't need to be made in such a forceful and patronising manner over and over again?
EA, don't rise to the bait my dear, you only have to look at his other posts and lets say no more about him! Lets talk about something else... the sun has come out here and I've just picked my first cucumber of the year! Yum!
ETA: He he! Confuzzled - I wish I could cook more like Nigella, but the microwave is my most used kitchen gadget so that says it all really0 -

Oh god. Evansangel quoted the post of that raving nutcase, when I have him on ignore because he pees me off so much. He posted on the ASD thread once saying my child has severe autism because I wilfully neglected to take vitamin D during my pregnancy with her. The "research" he quoted then came from very iffy sources, but he refused when directly challenged to confirm or deny that he is associated with the ahem "organisation" behind it. What is for sure is that he post vitamin D as a cure for anything, comes onto threads where he can have no possible personal interest (unless this middle aged overweight man with health problems is really trying to get his partner knocked up
) to preach about this, and is unspeakably rude to those who either differ with him or don't feel his advice is appropriate.
NO PARENT DESERVES TO BE LOCKED UP FOR DISREGARDING THE ADVICE OF AN UNQUALIFIED STRANGER ON AN INTERNET FORUM WHEN THE ADVICE HE IS GIVING IS NOT ENDORSED BY THE VAST MAJORITY OF DOCTORS PRACTISING IN THE UK (apologies for shouting)
Good luck to everyone still ttc. It seems like a long time since I was here posting, but in fact its only a few months since I got my BFP but I still like to lurk occasionally.0 -

To quote my partner.. "he's a prrrk"

Jeez Louise, what a total w@nker! Aside from the patronising and holier-than-thou overtones, and the fact that this thread is for those ttc and not spammers, this is based on a meta-analysis-type paper which is just looking at correlation between other people's findings. That paper he says quoted (which I have just read):
In summary, our results suggest that underlying environmental factors associated with higher latitudes and colder climate may be powerful contributors to schizophrenia—so powerful that they overwhelm the protective effects of better prenatal healthcare and nutrition found in more developed countries that are concentrated at higher latitudes. One promising candidate for such a factor is vitamin D deficiency, acting either alone or in synergism with certain infectious diseases such as influenza and toxoplasmosis. Further, more definitive research to elucidate the possible underlying environmental factors deserves high priority because these underlying factors could potentially be modified and prove valuable in programs for primary prevention of schizophrenia.
So by living away from the equator we are all jeopardising the health of our unborn babies too. By getting the flu, we may predispose our child to schizophrenia. What a load of balls!:rotfl: I work in genetics, candidate factors are just that, candidates, its just a supposition. Lets not even go down the route of how many candidate factors-and then candidate genes-exist for schizophrenia, we'd be here all fricking year.
If you're genuinely trying to help Tony, why not put some of the commission you make off your tablets into funding more schizophrenia research and *do* something altruistic if you're that bloody concerned.Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.0 -
Totally agree EA, he is! His latest immature response to you was outrageous! I can't believe anyone could say that you would be knowingly and willfully damaging your child by not taking a vitamin! Hope he goes off and spouts his garbage at those who are knowingly and willfully damaging their child by drinking and smoking irresponsibly when actually pregnant which is undisputed proven medical facts.
Back to the roasties, agree with MAdMac you can't beat goosefat, I also add a sprinkle of sea salt in the pan when you shake them up after boiling for 10 mins, it helps to rough them up and make them nice and crunchy on the outside. Are you going to do homemade yorkies too?0 -
Homemade yorkies are dead easy and way nicer than aunt bessies!
makes about 10
285ml milk
115g plain flour
3 eggs
salt and pepper
Mix it all together. Pour some oil into muffin tin (maybe 5mm in the bottom) then pop it in the oven to heat. Once the oil is hot, pour the mixture in (fill tins about 1/2-2/3rds) then pop back in oven. Take about 10 minutes to cook in a hot oven.0 -
Thats very freaky bitzer!! It is a very good recipe, never failed yet0
-
Thank you
Im copying all of these down as we speak
Grrr i forgot to bring my OV tests to work to test so i've missed a day *sigh*
x x0 -
yep same recipe here! They freeze well too, that makes 12 so just leave the extras to cool and pop them in a freezer bag into the freezer. This is very necessary in our house as they're so delicious we'd eat the whole lot! Next time you do a roast take them out the freezer to defrost and they just need a few minutes in a hot oven to warm them up. Very MSE too! And how impressed would your OH be with your domestic goddess efforts!0
