  • His country is effectively bankrupt; he is panicking; he is an incompetent.

    Enough said.

Is this Iceland's PM, or our own, you are referring to?

    Difficult to see a difference.

  • Are you nuts??!

Brown has been charge of the economy of 11 years. In this time he and the BoE deliberately stoked the consumer boom that has led to record house prices and personal debt in order to avert a small recession, this was admitted by former Bank Governor Eddie George. Come on, without liar loans and irresponsible lending (125% loans, SI, IO etc etc.) Brown would never have had his 10 years of uninterrupted growth and today's sound fundamentals that he likes to use to deflect the blame. The journalists are allowing Brown to spout his rubbish about the last ten years of prosperity, increase in employment and growth without highlighting that it was all a con and we are paying for that con now. He regularly hails himself as some sort of financial God all whilst blaming evil old America for our and everyone else's problems. Its his negligence on lax or lack of regulation by the FSA that has got us into the mess we are in and we were bankrupt before the bailouts even started! Now we are in for a massive recession or depression.

    Don't fall for his spin.

Can you even imagine how rude Gordon would be if each UK citizen had just had £116,000 added to their debt and he could point the finger at a foreigner?

I feel sorry for the people of Iceland.

Stoking up the nationalist flames is not a responsible way to go for any world leaders if we think back to the financial and economic crisis of the 1930s.

I don’t have time for political arguments. I’m too busy setting up my private army to invade Iceland, round up all their puffins, force feed them to Jeremy Clarkson, until he’s the size of Wembley Stadium and explode him over Reykjavik.

I was listening to an interview on Radio 4 the other day in which it was stated that it wasn't anti-terrorist law that was used in the case of Icelandic assets. It was just a case of a general purpose Act Of Parliament having 'terrorism' in its title.
I think most Acts of Parliament have terrorism in the title or the text these days.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?

Yet it was the tories who wanted even less regulations for their 'city' pals to make even bigger profits at the expense of everyone else. Thank God we have not had those bunch of clowns in power for the last 11 years. It would have been much worse, much quicker!
Don't fall for CONservative spin more like.
  • I don't believe there has been any Tory spin around. Actually they have left Brown unchallenged over his bail outs, which is diasppointing.

One can't reason with someone where it won't just get through. Just look back in history at past governments and check the facts through various sources on the internet about who is really good at running the economy, getting out of recessions, and not leaving office with the country bankrupt and high unemployment.

I have never voted Labour, still don't think I will but I think they have done well in freezing the Icesave assets, according to reports in a paper I read yesterday 4billion pounds have been frozen, 1 billion over what British savers have paid in. We should only give Iceland back any remaining money after they have paid British savers what they are owned, after all by all accounts the Icelandic govt were quite happy to attempt to take this money to make sure they were okay and F*** the British savers. The Icelandic PM really has a cheek to complain about anything after what he and his govt tried
