Icelandic PM: British brought down Icelands largest company with their abuse of power

300,000 people live in Iceland. Get real.0

This Icelandic PM is a joke. He says contradictory things by the hour. One minute it's every country for itself, the next we're all close friends and they can pay us back quickly. One minute he's stealing the hard earned savings of UK citizens, the next he's criticising our government for doing the same with the assets of Icelandic banks.

Not as much of a joke as our Prime Minister. Acting the hero in trying to save us from the troubled markets, while all along he caused the trouble. He is deluded, still trying to convince us and himself that this 'all started in America'
It was the Americans was it that allowed Self Cert ' our own sub prime liar loans' by the likes of Bradford and Bingley and Northern Rock?
Icelandic PM has a good point, and I have a lot of money in Kaupthing. Now we are left with the money in Holland with ING with no UK FSCS protection, which was superior. Crash Gordon went in there trying to be the hero, to save his political skin and ended up making the whole thing worse in his typical buffoon like style.0 -
His country is effectively bankrupt; he is panicking; he is an incompetent.
Enough said.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Wonder where all these rich icelandic companies got their funding from. I see Mr British Home Stores is out there trying to make a quick buck.

Although I joked about his wig, there is an underlying worry that a man of his stature and power, needs to pretend he’s younger than what he is and sums up his ethos, cover-ups and pretence. A bit like William Hague wearing a baseball cap, thinking he’d look cool.
When do you know if a politician is lying?
Their lips are moving.

The rest of the world are looking to our Prime Minister for a financial model to solve this crisis.
I’d rather have him, than the nutter across the pond.0 -

Financial matters are Brown's only comfort zone -- he has shown himself incapable of dealing adequately with just about anything else. Though of course in the context of a Labour government he has presided over public expenditure spiralling out of control. All Labour governments eventually run out of money, because of the obsession with pursuing what they see as social justice as a priority over everthing else, and also their indomitable belief that the state knows better how to spend our money than we do.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

I think it's awful what they did to Kerry Katona too.
Although there is a serious discussion to have about using legislation framed in anti-terrorism hysteria for other purposes. It's not the first time, councils using it to spy on parents during the schools admissions process, now Norway. Roll on ID cards I say, we have nothing to fear.0 -
He brought it on his country when he said that Icesave was frozen but Landsbanki would continue with business as usual and Iceland's domestic deposits were safe,
Is this any different to a chunk of our banks being "saved", "nationalised", sold off to Santander...etc, while at the same time saying that the rest, whoever is still left - difficult to keep up with who is owned by who now - are trading "as normal" - with a huge bail-out the only way to manitain "normality"...?
The Icelandic PM has the same need to say the "right" thing as our PM. Different "right" things are said at different times, to suit political expediency.
I don't think Iceland invented spin.Hi, we've noticed that you don't have a signature to remove. If you're not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you are feeling left out.0
