Somebody PLEASE ! Help me get the scanner working.

I'm pulling me hair out here trying to sort out the driver for me scanner.
I've got a Mustek 1200UB scanner.
I've found the drivers, all 5 of them, but they wont unzip or load.

It says you need to download a Twain driver and Panel, a Generic Scanning Module as well.....but it dont say where from ?????????

It says you can download all files in one go....but it dont tell you where !

I'm gonna lob it through the window in a min

nah ! Tried all them

The web.exe file won't open. It comes up with a error message
"c:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL.An installable Virtual Device Driver Failed Dll initialization."

All the other files downloaded are not associated with any program either. If you click on them it wants to search the web for the program that created them.

Well its just that in a link I saw Symantec and they make norton
so maybe some files need to be downloaded to your PC and Norton might be blocking it, Mmmm Just a theory....

I don't think it has. Do a search for 'S32EVNT1.DLL installable' on Usenet.

I tried searching usenet. Not sure what I'm looking for
Non of this makes any sense to me.

I tried symantec to get support. I paid for the product initially, it was supposed to remove all files itself when I scrapped it, now they want me to pay them again to remove the files

I'm looking at finding a good reg editor and deleting the symantec files.

Not sure if that's a wise move though
