  • Well, I'm just glad that I don't need my money for anything soon.

I'm hoping that I'll see the money again around Christmas, but if not, I don't mind as long as I get it back eventually.

I think we can now see who was right and who was wrong on the Iceland Banks saga...

    Good point.

And it's worth reviewing the vulgar and aggressive tone taken by the Icesave shills, especially the foul-mouthed poster, shindigger, see above..

I lost track of the times he told well-reasoned critics of Icesave to "f*ck off!!!"

Now we see elsewhere that he was privately worried sick about his own deposits at the doomed bank.

    What rank hypocrisy!

  • Don't worry folks! Our details are heading for the UK on a CD in the post as we speak.

I hate to be picky, but I'd rather not have my money transferred to another organisation that I haven't made a contract with. Particularly since I have an account elsewhere lined up.

I agree. I can't see why anyone thinks it's generous to pay interest, especially if it takes months to settle the claims.

I guess because I assumed that the role of the FSCS was to get people their money back if a bank went bust - not to pay out interest while they were trying to sort it out. I'm not complaining though folks - I've got cash tied up in Icesave and will be happy to get it back with interest!!

Do you think hundreds of FSCS office workers have been sitting there for 8 years twiddling their thumbs waiting for a bank to fail so they can begin processing claim forms?

Yes! That's what government bodies do! It keeps the unemployment rate down! It's a terrible waste of resources but it makes Brown look good (well, it doesn't, he just hopes it does.)

On the question of interest: In the specially extended edition of MoneyBox on BBC Radio 4 last evening (Sunday), they were pretty definite that we are only entitled to interest up to the date Icesave collapsed.

It's all very well for some folk here to say, "That suits me, I'm just relieved to get anything". But please remember that many of us rely on our monthly interest to boost our income, and are now to lose it through no fault of our own.

In fact, some people desperately rely upon their monthly interest to pay standing orders, mortgage etc.

So let's hope for their sake that we get our funds back p.d.q.!

(An afterthought: where exactly are our billions while this is being sorted out? Are they sitting dormant in Landsbanki, or does that bank have them invested somewhere, raking in the interest?)

For every word you have typed in your masturbatoy glee re the demise of Icesave, i have typed one to protect my and 300,000 other savers interests.
It just depends how you get your kicks really.

How long it takes to get the money back is none of your concern now surely?
If you could detail here, how your continued obsession, with the difficulties of this company, has helped ANYONE, i'd love to see that.
But you can't, because your sole purpose on here is to groove on other peoples anxiety.
Ive got to give you credit though, all that research, all those late nights.
    Must have been worth it.:rotfl:
    You do work dont you??

seems to be this thread is going away from the original topic -can we not all be civilised and stop all these unpleasant unecessary posts and keep to the main subject -namely receovering our hard earned money with ICESAVE be it with interest or not -the main point is we will all be re paid and if that means 2 -3 months lsot interest -thats the way it is.
