Sounds like you just need to make sure the room is safe (e.g. gate on the door, nothing that she can pull down on top of her) and just let her explore as she wants. If she wants somewhere comfy to sit for a bit then a pile of pillows or a folded duvet should do. Or I think you can get kiddie sofas and arm chairs that are low to the ground and easy to climb into, if you want to splash out a bit.

    even with a harness ?!

why would you want her unable to "escape" whilst indoors ?!

a play pen / travel cot is far safer, kinder ;)

the first high chair had only a lap belt and she made light work of that. She can tip her travel cot and she hates the playpen.

I want something she can't escape from for safety's sake. Sometimes i need to go to the toilet or to answer the door and I want to be certain she can't come to any harm while I do so. I don't think that is unsafe or unkind.;)

I've never had anything past the bouncer for all three of mine. Once they started crawling, they lost interest in the bouncer and didn't need to sit in it.

I've got normal bean bags that they've sat occasionally, but most of the time they were just happy sitting on the floor or off exploring.

I've not found the need to fasten them into anything to stop them escaping, as I take them with me to the front door, toilet etc.

I have used the travel cot as a playpen in the garden, when I've been busy working and didn't want them rolling around on damp grass. Maybe you could look at getting a travel cot or playpen for use in the house?
Here I go again on my own....

    get a full harness :D

babies "hate" lots of things but if it's in their safety, then you just have to do it !

I agree, my DD is 13 months and she is either pottering about exploring, in her high chair eating, or on the sofa chilling with me cuddled up. If the doorbell goes I scoop her up and she comes with me. If I want to get some serious chores done she usually ends up in a sling on my back so she can see what is going on and stay safe, even have a nap.

How cool are these. We are looking for a beanbag for our 9month old and I came across these. I think they are fab.

  • Oh how cute are they?! They look like dog or cat beds at first glance!

A nice idea, but expensive considering a couple of pillows and a blanket would probably suffice.

My DD is 8 months old now and spends the whole day exploring, and I tend to cart her around with me too.
