Baby seat/chair for my 9 month old daughter?

Options
Hi there!

As the title reads I'm looking for a new baby seat/chair now that my daughter has outgrown her bouncer.

I still want something that ideally she can be strapped into & have a snooze or just chill out in.

I've no idea what's on the market once they get past the bouncer stage!?

We have a door bouncer, baby walker etc but it's not the same as her being able to just chilling out in her bouncy chair.

Thanks!
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:

Hi, our little fella sits up in his high chair. It tilts back for when he looks sleepy, and the height is adjustable so he's still quite near the floor, except for when eating at the table with us. Doesn't work for all obvs. but he likes it in there and likes the tray as he can have some smaller toys ready to hand. We've got the Silver Cross Sovereign chair if the recommendation is any use to you :D
I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.

From 9 months on they don't really chill out & just sit any more. Once she can crawl it's all over :D
Some people rave over Bumbos, but mine never liked them.
    Can she sit up?
If not, I used to put my Big V breastfeeding cushion behind them.
If I wanted mine to be safe whilst I did anything, I'd sit them in the playpen, on a big crinkly playblanket, with lots of toys.

Yes...She sits up,crawls, climbs etc but she does like chilling in her bouncer. I don't seem to be able to find anything for once they get past the bouncer stage.

Ruby hated her Bumbo. I gave up in the end & sold it. It was more dangerous to try & keep her in it than it was worth.

That's what I was thinking. By the time my DS was 9 months he was too busy crawling and cruising around to 'chill out' in a chair! I think he'd have been most put out if I'd tried to strap him in a chair unless he was eating! Can't remember how old, but as soon as he grew out of his bouncy chair I just used to sit him on the floor surrounded by cushions and toys. He very rarely sat still though! :)

She still motors about but in the afternoon/evening she happily sit's in there. She's still into everything & I still need eyes in the back of my head! Lol! :D

  • I wish my DS had done that! I think the only time I could get anything done at that age was when he was asleep! :)
  • You can get children's beanbag chairs from places like Argos, but there are no straps on them. The whole point of a bouncer really is that baby isn't very mobile :) If you just want her to be comfy, I'd pop a folded duvet on the floor and keep an eye on her.
I like you. I shall kill you last.

You reminded me, you can get baby beanbags with straps

    here is one on ebay

although if she can crawl, I guess she might be able to crawl with this strapped to her, tortoise like :rotfl:

My daughter is nine months old too (she was also born on Christmas day  )
and i am having the same problem; she can escape from her bumbo and her infant to toddler rocker and we've just had to upgrade her highchair because she was starting to stand up in the first one. I'm thinking of investing in a pushchair for indoor use only because it's the only thing I can think of that she can't escape from.

Can i just ask, does your baby start to crawl away during nappy changes? It has got to the stage now where i have to change her while she is standing up!
:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T
  • If she really wants to just chill then a normal bean bag will do. If she doesn't stay on it then she obviously doesn't want to chill and is happier to explore. I don't see any reason for straping a child of 9 months into a chair unless it's a high chair where they need to sit safely to eat.
