  • Give a personalised charitable gift

If you're feeling guilty about spending so much on presents, this is a site that allows you to send a gift to someone needy, and it is rather like moonpig.com in design (in fact so alike, it may be the same people behind it). If you go to World Vision's "The Alternative Gift Catalogue", you can choose a charitable gift (from £5 for a fruit tree to £1000's to rebuild a school) to help those worse off than yourselves. You can then send an e-card or choose form a huge selection of cards which you can personalise inside and out. You can even upload photos for the card. Here's a mockup from their site:

The Alternative Gift Catalogue is part of World Vision's carefully planned initiatives to help some of the world's poorest communities make their way out of poverty. This is because most of the gifts arrive in the context of our long-term development programmes. Here, community leaders and local committees helped by our dedicated national staff-identify their needs and priorities, including the gifts featured in this catalogue. Which means the gifts you buy are really needed- and will be treasured when they arrive. Read the full text here

Not quite a personalised gift but Jacquie Lawson does the most brilliant cards for all occasions. To join for a year is a minimal amount & then you could send your personalised Christmas card & send a gift of a year's subscription to the Jacquie Lawson site.Check out her most recent card - The 12 days of Christmas - it is fab. https://www.jacquielawson.com
  • Thanks for this. My Dad retires in April next year after 45 years in the same job. He will be thrilled when he reads his paper.
  • I've made some cushions with photographs of the recipient's kids on. White cushions £2.50 from ikea and inkjet photo transfer paper about a quid a sheet. All I had to do was unpick a bit of seam, unstuff, iron, restuff and sew back up. They charge about £20 for this from a personalised gift shop. (Or there are a few people doing it on ebay for a more reasonalbe cost)
  • Wish I'd spotted this earlier and I hope I'm not contravening any forum rules doing this. We actually do personalised gifts which involve your Family Name Origin, Coat of Arms and First Name Origin amongst other things. These can be printed on to mugs, beer steins, bookmarks, coasters and key rings at the top end or inserted into much the same thing for a bit less using the arcylic type products. The high end stuff we've cut off for Christmas now due to a backlog but the less expensive stuff is less time consuming and is still available.

You can check out the web site here or our eBay shop here.

Worth noting we do this all year round so if you are after something a little bit different then bookmark us. The web site is due an upgrade after Christmas.

  • Following Tigermatts posting on 8 December commenting on Snapdragon Personalised books I can confirm that what he says is spot on. The Service is as good as it gets. Already received my order and it's brilliant. The youngsters gonna love it. Thoroughly recommend. Thanks Tigermatt
